Hi
We have just come back from a 2 week holiday with them - we took their fly drive option - once you start adding accommodation the savings are less.
As for the service we thought it was very much like being on your average european package holiday type flight .....just longer of course (not surprising since they are part of the Excel group who are one of the biggest operators over Europe). We also left on time and arrived early both ways - though in the end, due to airport handling problems, it did not result in any major advantage.
Yes, you get the odd headset problems etc - though most complaints I've read, seem to be based on people not getting their sunshine first or other upgrades. Planes do look a little dated but leg room is good and food and drink service was OK. You don't get the seat-back TVs..... but for the return journey you are most likely to be sleeping to counteract the time diffference in any case.
I have flown Virgin and BMI to the US before and yes they definitely do offer a better overall quality of service, and are infinitely more reliable being schedule, rather than charter airline....... but whether you thnk that is really worth the extra ££££ is a personal choice.
As with a previous poster, we saved £800 with 4 of us flying TCD - this pretty well paid for the majority of our 4 Night
Disney Cruise (now personally I like the idea of an airline that gives free Disney Cruises ....or Universal & Disney Park Passes etc. at the same price as Virgin flights !).
I would definitely use them again.
My advice would be if you book with TCD......... be prepared for a typical european airline service ...including all that can go wrong with those.
