Travel City Direct are Great

We used TCD last year. They were excellent, would definately book with them again. It's just a shame they only do 14 night durations. I want to go for 10 or 11 nights in November and although they can do it for me, it costs much more than a 14 night stay.

By the way, HI, I'm a newbie. Great site you have here. :wave2:

Unfortunately for us they were very very poor. It would take a lot for us to use them again.

I have never booked with TCD but there have been numerous discussions on here over the years about them and it always seems to come out with a group of people that love them and a group of people that loathe them. :)

Also I would just like to say :welcome: Welcome to the DIS Disney D :welcome: :wave2:

Thanks for the Welcome :sunny:

To be honest I think it's just pure luck. Things could go wrong no matter who you book with. Up to now I've been lucky and had no problems. It also depends how fussy you are, I've seen people complain about the slightest thing that I wouldn't even dream of complaining about. Mind you, when it comes to being bumped off your upgrade I think I would go bananas! But no matter how mad I would get, I'm sure it would all be forgotten once on Disney soil. If things go wrong, just think ahead, think what's waiting for you in WDW.

Good luck Snookhams, I'm SURE you will be OK.

Disney D - welcome to the Dis :goodvibes Do you have a trip planned?

Out of interest, I've just priced up our October trip online and it's coming in at £800 more than we're paying with Virgin.

Me, too. I have priced them up on numerous occasions and they always came out more expensive. I must not have had my lucky trousers on or something :teeth:

we got bumped out of sunshine first last year on the way out, wasnt happy to say the least, as we were bumped back to economy! i can laugh now though at the time i was evil angry. Still using them this year though and next, we got bumped down yes but then we got four rows of seats each so could lay down

I have to say that I have been on holiday to Florida five times and I have always travelled with TCD I have stayed in Villas and hotels and this time we are staying in Universal one week and Port Orleans the next week. Its the first time I have stayed on site! I have never had any problems and I even went to Vegas with them last year, other people must be great if they can find cheaper holidays to florida than with them because usually no else is even close when I look into it.
I have only had one problem and that was when we stayed in a villa during hurricane jeanne we didn't really know what to do or how to handle the situation but thats hardly their fault.

I would say dont worry unnecessarily about it, planes can be delayed with any company I dont think TCD are the troubled bunch people are painting them to be.

Thank you, it's nice to be here. I've got a trip planned for November, not yet booked, but Virgin are looking good at the moment.

HOMERDOG.... Is Virgin really £800 cheaper than TCD in October, that is unusual for a like for like quote. Sounds like you have got a bargain.

Definately would not use them again, plane over 20 hours late going over, only 4 hours late returning, no rep, plane going over no tv and freezing cold, Bumped down from premium on the way out, got premium on the way back but the tv was not working, seats falling to pieces, total lack of proper replies to complaints!
So a no vote from me!

Had an 8 hour delay with them 3 years ago, we were kept informed of all progress and given vouchers to spend on food and drink at Gatwick. no other problems would fly with them again.

June '05 - Honeymoon - 6 1/2 hour delay on the way out due to computer failure (better to be safe than sorry!) and 2 hr delay on return due to old man getting ill and having to offload his bags. Both times we were kept informed of situation and on way out we got drinks and food very quickly and comp. champagne due to honeymoon.

Would have used Virgin as before but June was too expensive with them so close to the wedding but we felt the customer service was better with Virgin on flight and in Orlando. TCD staff at their centre at the Mercado were not helpful at all!

HELPFUL HINT - Take advantage of TCD's offer of double baggage allownace for a fee, we didn't and had to pay excess baggage :sad2:

I am glad that there are so many good experiences.

I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole, started off badly with tickets not arriving on time, reps at LBV could not, or would not help, was promised refund on return still trying to get that from last Sept. 24 hour delay and NO company rep available at any point, flight back was a nighmare when it did happen. Try to sort it out with the company and cuotmer relations refuse to talk to any compliants on the phone, letters only answered whenthey are sent recorded delivery.

I do hpope the more potive reviews means that they are getting better, but I found if you shop around you can often get better deals than TCD anyway.

DITTO DITTO and DITTO (only our delay was August), it wasn't so much the delay that upset us, but the sheer lack of TCD reps and communication - it was terrible!

I think that, like with any company, you will hear good and bad tales

We've had nothing but good trips with Virgin - especially figuring in the disabled assistance - whilst many have had nighmares :sad2:

We had a 36 hour delay, with Virgin, last year, were accommodated in the Rosen Plaza (including food), on ID, for free, but still had loads of travellers complaining because Virgin were unable to tell them, exactly, what time their flight home would be......the reps had no more idea than we did....!

The same again with 'Airtours' holidays - in their case it seems to 'boil down' to the 'luck of the draw' when it comes to resort staff.........

Been with TCD but never again. I don't like delays and they specialise in them. Its all right people saying every airline has delays and they are correct. They just don't have as many lengthy delays as this lot.

Oops! Sorry, I posted this from Homerdog's PC. He'll be surprised to learn that he's going to Orlando in October :teeth: .

It's not quite a 'like for like' quote because we're going for 18 nights and I could only get a 14 day quote with TCD. I added on all the extras which are included within Virgin's price and deducted the car hire element as we've booked flights only. I do really like the fact that TCD gives you a breakdown of the various elements - it makes it much easier to make comparisons.

We are getting a good deal with Virgin (#550 each including taxes and fuel surcharge for Premium Economy) as we are Flying Club members - a loyalty programme with real benefits. The most we've paid for PE in recent years is #650 and, last year we flew into Washington DC and back from Orlando free of charge!

For some reason the site doesn't want to recognise my 'pound' key today. :confused3

I've only been to Florida once and that was with TCD...it was a trip for my 18th birthday with my parents, uncle and aunty so obviously I had nothing to do with the booking but I have just booked through them for me and two friends for June next year. They were very patient on the phone as I had to get quotes for around 20 dates at three different resorts with and without preferred room.

Richard - the guy who I was on the phone to for nearly three hours was very patient and explained everything to me clearly, as this is my first time booking my own international holiday.

Last time we went we had no plane delays. OK they had problems with the tv sound and the plane wasn't what you would get travelling with BA....but WHO CARES? It got me there and got me home, and to be honest I slept most of the way anyway....

There was a rep on arrival, car hire was quick and easy with a free upgrade and everything went smoothly

Hi UKDEB,
Just wondered if you've found your £ sign?? If your keyboard is set up to the US standard, you need to press Alt+£.
Hope it works for you!

Totally agree with the above post. Possibly on the same flight as mentioned above. Useless reps kept us hanging around all day. No thought or provision was made for the famlies with young children.

We were lucky we got overnighted in the Gatwick Hilton. Some poor souls didnt get a bed, and had to make do with an armchair in a room.

By the time we got a room and a bed, we only had a few hours sleep, before having to get back to check in the following morning. The plane was an hour late boarding, and one of the cabin crew had to make an annoucement to calm people down on the plane. As a lot of people did not get their SF or SP seats.

All TCD said was that we would have to claim for the delay off our insurance. They do not know the meaning of the word customer care. There was one lady on our flight who was suffering badly at Gatwick. She could not stand up for much longer, and I found a wheelchair for her. Its things like that that reps should pick up on.

I think that the flight was 5A120 it was a horrible Air Atlanta 747-200 which had seen better days. Have booked Virgin for next year dont care if they are dearer, I am paying for a better and reliable service!
