Has anyone used these??? Last time we just lugged our two Britax through the airport, I was thinking of getting travel bags this time.

Do the car seats need to be taken out of the bag when you go through security??

We actually had the car seat bag for our last trip in February, and found that we didn't need it at all. We were using it on the flight, and for the rental car. So all it did was get in the way, really heavier carry on bag.
I suppose that if you were going to gate check the car seat it could be handy. We didn't get the stroller cover-I purchased 3, and all 3 were too small for the full size Graco glider that we took with us. But gate check went great, and the stroller survived and wasn't dirty at all. Also, what we did see was that the car seat & strollers had to be taken out of the carriers to go through screening...alot of frustrated parents. Do yourself a favor, skip it. We used Jetblue, and everything was great with our experience. :goodvibes

If I were travelling with a car seat and had to check it, I would definitely use a protective cover. I have seen a lot of car seats on baggage carousels which were filthy and totally trashed by the airlines.

We just put ours in dark trash bags and taped them up good with packing tape and taped our names and address as well as resort on them. They came thru just fine :thumbsup2

We're going to use the seats on the plane and for our rental car, just trying to find an easier way to get them through the airport.

I bought the gogokidz for my dd´s Marathon and it was so easy to pull through JFK, also they didn´t ask for me to take it off while it went through the xray machine:

Just make sure you buy the one that fits the britax model that you have.

We actually put the car seat on top of the stroller & had our child walk or be carried (luckily we had some extra hands as Nana came along). This was easier than trying to carry the car seat since it is heavy & shaped so odd. We used the car seat on the plane & gate checked the stroller. We prefer to bring our own stroller for comfort, use around the resort & to save some $$$.

If you don't plan to bring a stroller, maybe you could rent one of those carts at the airport. But you'll have to at least carry the car seat into the terminal until you find one.

Good luck & have fun.

If the seat will go through the scanner inside the satchel, then no, it doesn't have to be taken out of it. I sent ours through in our Prince Lionheart satchel all the time. That one has backpack straps, which was very convenient for getting the carseat through the terminal while pulling a rolling bag in one hand and guiding a child with the other.

We ship 3 carseats and use one on the plane. The carseats are FILTHY if not covered. They also get very dirty on the belts in security if not covered. We used the Lionheart version for our Roundabout and it also fit a booster seat together! We get two luggage "strollers" you know the ones you rent, and place everything on there...The backpack straps I think are worthless on the travel bags.

The problem with that strategy is that there are some airports that do not allow luggage carts to go past security; Denver Int'l for example. If you don't bring your own folding luggage cart, you're out of luck.

The trick to using the backback straps is to double them back over the front of the bag, so that the zipper is against your back, adjusted so the front edge of the seat is just beneath the level of your tush. If you put it on facing away from you it will hang too long and bang against your back.

Hi, I just returned and traveled with two car seats and have been traveling with my car seat for 4 years now. I used one car seat on the plane for my little one and no cover needed. The other car seat I sent through with luggage and had no car seat cover but, Delta provided me on this and all my other trips with a clear sturdy bag that you put the car seat in and they even tape it up for. Just remember to use the labels with your name and address on it. I had went to purchase a car seat cover at Babies R Us before my trip and couldn't find one to fit my car seat. So, don't worry the car seat made it through luggage and was kept nice and clean in it's bag. Now the one I brought on board I closed the buckles up and carried it from there and yes they are heavy and I was also traveling with two strollers that I took to the plane and some carry-ons. Good luck and hope this helps.
