Trauma Scars and Disney Tattoos

I think (and hope) in time you will adjust and accept your scar. I have a bad scar from a fall when I was very young. I had stitches right next to my eye and was too squirmy so they weren't don't well and didn't heal as well as they could've.

Honestly it's a part of me at this point. I don't even notice it when I look in the mirror and sadly can't even tell you which eye it's next to.

Like suggested earlier I would get a great tattoo artist one that was recommended by many, you've checked out their portfolio and has done scar cover-up before. But before I was set on anything I would ask him/her for suggestions as what to get. They may be able to recommend/draw up something fantastic based on your likes that they know would work there.

Again I'm not really a tattoo know it all I just pretend to be one while watching tattoo shows on tv! ;)

You should contact a tattoo artist. Scars are very hard to actually tattoo. You. If he do an incorporation of the scar but actual ink in scar tissue is very hard.

I do like the rappelling or rope idea. Good luck

I would love to see all your tattoos! I am a tattoo virgin and have acquired myself a new, really ugly scar from a bad fall.

My absolutely favourite is the haunted mansion and pirates of the carribean. I'm also in love with the Disney castle and Mickey Mouse outline.

I would love some help designing a tattoo that would encorporate my scar somehow.

Remember that scars take up to a year to look much better. You said it's recent. I would maybe let it fully heal before doing anything to it. That said, I totally understand wanting to cover it. I'm sure a good tattoo artist would have some great ideas.

.....wow, I've never noticed that she had such a large scar before....

Add me to those giving you the unsolicited advice to learn to accept and even love your scar. I think it's awesome! I have a scar straight across my neck from a surgery. Mederma and covering it with sunscreen religiously helped it heal well, but it's still visible. I consider it a "battle scar" that I survived an ordeal.

I also agree with those saying that tattoos to cover a scar can be tricky. The ink may not take the same in that spot giving the tattoo an obvious look over the scar, drawing attention to it rather than hiding it. I watch the reality show Ink Master and they have had several people on with scars and it's been challenging for the artist.

My advice is to wait. Give yourself more time. This was a very traumatic experience and it might be too soon to put another permanent mark on your body. You didn't choose the scar, but it's possible you may regret the tattoo even more.

You may not always hate the scar like you do now, and you might even grow to be truly okay with it someday. A year really isn't that long when it comes to a major injury.

Wishing you well!

Definitly wait because your scar isn't at prime healing yet.

One idea though would be to do one of the stretching room scenes. They could even make the "frame" of it the same shade as the scar and hide it pretty well.

The big issue you are going to have is size and location. You are basically going to need to work it into a half sleeve or be okay with it only wraping halfway around your arm.
