Trash and Grocery questions

It's amazing what questions come to mind the more I think about DVC:rotfl:

I know that there is a trash and towel day. But what if you need to take out trash before then? Is there a dumpster located in an area accessable to DVC members? That may seem like a silly question, but when staying in the resorts all of those seem to be kept out of sight.

Also, for those of you who buy groceries when you arrive, where is the nearest food stores? How far is the nearest grocery chain or Wal-Mart?

I can not help you with a grocery store, but I just got back from the SSR and there was a trash room on the first floor of the building I was in. I did not find any information in my paperwork for the location of the room, but one day I just went looking around, there was a sign on the door and there were a few large trash cans in the room.
I would assume that each DVC resort has a trash room. When we stay at the AKV in June, I am going to make sure I ask at the front desk for its location.

There are trash & recycling rooms on each floor - I think maybe more than one per floor, but I can't be sure. I know there was one about 6 doors down from us.

At VWL and BWV there are trash/recycling rooms on each floor. They are identified with a sign on the door. I could be wrong, but, I've stayed at SSR three times, in different buildings, and have only found one in each building, all on ground floor. At AKV, I believe they are on each floor also. We've only stayed there once and we did have one on our floor. Have not stayed at either BCV or OKW. We make it our habit to take our trash out on a daily basis, just as if we were home. Of course, we do use the kitchen quite a bit and cook meals. Maybe if we didn't, we wouldn't need to take trash every day.

For buying groceries off site I know of two. If you go out by Downtown Disney(pass the hotels that are on property but not Disney, like the Best Western) to the Crossroad (at the traffic light go accross) there is a grocery store as well as some shops and restaurants. In my opinion this place is a little pricey but if you take a left at the traffic light and go no more than a 1/2 mile up the road on the right hand side you will see a Winn Dixie. That is where I go. They are cheeper plus I signed up for their advantage club card online (as a seasonal guest) and I use my card each time. This is one of the first places I go when I get there, I buy water, soda, milk, snacks and other things will need. The first place I go buy before the Winn Dixie is Perkins. Once I do my shopping I head over to the BWV and check in. I do this to make sure my room is ready when I check in.

Know this, if you are checking in and your room is not ready anything perishable the hotel will not store for you.
