Transportation to Discovery Cove?

Because of ME and cheap airfares with Southwest, we are going to be at POR for nine nights without a vehicle. We are going to Discovery Cove one day (just two of us). What would be the best way to get there? Can you arrange a cab the night ahead to pick you up at a certain time? Or would a shuttle be better?

Although you could pre-arrange a taxi or towncar, you'd have the most flexibility with a rental car.

Keep in mind that your Discovery Cove tickets also provide admission to Sea World for 7 days. We ended up going to Sea World for two days after our Discovery Cove day. The first day, we went to the big shows. The second day, we went to the exhibits and small shows. The price of Discovery Cove seems more reasonable if you also visit Sea World.

If you also decide to go off-property several days, a rental car makes a lot of sense.

I agree, but we are a party of twelve all together. We originally planned to go to US and IOA, as well as Sea World, but when I checked into a van, it just sounded so high. So we decided to stay at Disney the whole time, except the mother daughter trip to Discovery Cove (and don't you think that is part of the idea behind ME? to keep me from getting a rental - we were going to go off Disney property at least four days)

Would a rental for just one day be cheaper than a taxi or shuttle if we got an economy car?

how many are going and their ages.

you can ride a Lynx bus to SW - but it is a good 2 regular blocks from DC - then you have to walk up their LONG drive way...

if you are in 30's - then it might be okay - but in your 50's or older - unless you walk alot - don't attempt this.

you need to take a bus to the MK - then monrail to the TTC

I'm in my 30's and my daughter is almost 12. If we are able to make it around Disney for nine days walking, we should be able to handle that walk, right?

As I continue to wonder about this, can someone tell me if the CMs at POR will have phone numbers for me to call to arrange a taxi or town car ahead of time? I assume they do but just wondered. I liked the Lynx idea except it sounds like a lot of changing buses and stuff and I would like to get there early, but not have to estimate all of the different times between the hotel TTC, etc.
