Thats a lot. I had my car shipped from Florida to Colorado when I bought it for $750.

My husband is 25 so that's not a problem there.

Another thing we have here in Seattle is something called Zip Car. I think it used to be FlexCar? You pay a small monthly fee (like $10?) and you can use the car when you need to. No age fees or anything, you just sign up for the car when you need it.

I looked into Zip Car. It sounds great! Unfortunately you have to be 21, Im only 18. Also, its not available in Orlando. Thanks for the idea!

I'm just going to bring my car down. It's roughly a 24 hour drive from New England, but I think it'll benefit me in the long run, and worst case scenario if it breaks down and I can't pay for it for a few weeks I still have the buses.

i opted not to have my car at the college program; i lived in vista way.

i did rent a car for almost a month though; it was great. the people who rented it to us liked us i guess and we got a free upgrade from a compact car to a red ford mustang which we drove down to the beach and had a blast.

i did ok not having my car. it was a source of frustration though, i couldn't go where i wanted exactly when i wanted and the buses take forever. the buses do go to the mall and wal mart a couple of times a week. there's a walgreen's on the corner of vista way and a wendy's, i believe.

and please don't depend on the buses to get you there on time; take a bus at least one or two stops early in order to get there on time. i know it stinks but they will kick you out of the program and send you packing if you have too many flags. and they will send you home right away if you are under age and they catch you drinking.

it is expensive driving your car down there but it might be worth it to you. you will not be making a lot of money on the program though, and with gas prices so high it might be a good time to get used to not having a car for a little while. you will find ways to have fun.

a friend of mine down there transported her car by train i think. it wasn't super expensive and it got there ok.

good luck on whatever you decide to do; the college program is worth it.

I used Countrywide Auto for shipping from Chicago to Orlando and it was $595 each way. Loved having my car down there too!
