Hi,

My family and I will be staying at Disney World for a week in January for the first time. We are not staying at a Disney World Resort, although the hotel we would like to book does have transportation to the 4 Disney Parks and we will be renting a car anyway.

My question is, if I am at the Magic Kingdom, is there any way I can transport from the Magic Kingdom to, let's say, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, or Hollywood Studios? And vice-versa? Or is this only available to those staying at a Disney Resort?

Also, I would like to know, since we are not staying at a Disney Resort, how can we get Disney park hours, Character Meeting Info, Maps, Brochures and ect.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the DIS boards!!
Anyone can use any form of transportation at WDW...you do not need to be staying onsite. There are times, during the year, that you could find some transportation options closed down to off-site people but that doesn't happen too often...and not in January. It is basically a crowd issue.

So....to get to various parks. To get to, or from, MK to other parks you will need to take either the boat or the monorail over to the TTC. From there you can get the monorail directly to Epcot, or a bus to DHS or AK.
At Epcot, DHS and AK you can get a bus to all other parks.
It is all very well marked and easy to do. Once you get there you will see just how easy it is.

As far as other info, go to the WDW official site.

That should give you all the info you need.

Most hotels have a rack near the front desk where they have advertising brochures for local attractions. Usually on the rack there will be a brochure with an overview of all the Disney parks, and there may also be a separate brochure with a calendar showing Disney park hours for a month or 2 weeks.

When you arrive at your first theme park, you can get detailed maps and entertainment schedules for all 4 parks at any ticket booth or Guest Relations (generally, just inside the turnstiles on the left.) The schedules may cover a few days or an entire week.

Greeting times for most characters is not specifically published, but Guest Relations should be able to tell you where and when you can find your favorites.
