Hello all, this a question about transportation!
Me and my boyfriend will be travelling to WDW June 2011, we will both be 18 at time of travel, staying within WDW resort at the All Stars Movie resort as it is handiest for park (will be spending most time in WDW)...
BUT we intend on going to Universal Studios, Sea World, Busch Gardens and Aquatica! Busch Gardens is providing transportation from Kissimee in ticket price. BUT the problem is, we will not have a car... How will we get from WDW to Universal Studios? Is there buses that go to Universal Studios from Kissimee or anything?? I remember it being around a 30 minute drive away from disney parks.
Please help before I book holiday!
And thank you very much!!! :) xx

A taxi is your best bet. Since your too young to rent a car. have fun!!

Yup, I would just grab a cab. I believe you can arrange other transportation via Mears or limos, but a cab is the easiest.

I don't know if the lynx (public transportation) goes to the other theme parks or not. I suspect they do but I've only used the "city" bus to travel from Disney to shop at camping world and then return to Fort Wilderness. I know that it can be used to get from the airport to the Disney Resort (my husband did that one time) so I would guess that it travels to the other theme parks in the Orlando area as well. The lynx leaves from the transportation and ticket center on a regular schedule. You could also take a taxi which would be quicker, but far more expensive. The cost of the lynx is not bad.

Good luck

I travel to Universal every Disney Trip. I rent a taxi and it comes out to about $30 for a one way trip. I usually tip $10 on top of that and leave an even $40. So account for $80 in taxi expenses roundtrip.

My one way of saving about $10 or so on the trip is taking a bus to downtown disney/pleasure island and getting a taxi from there to universal. If your staying at a resort that a little further then where the taxi has to drive (which you are), you can save some money by hopping on the taxi there.

I also reccomend doing this when you coming back from universal. Get dropped off at downtown instead of your resort, and just take a disney bus back to your resort.

Good luck.

This sounds like the best idea, do you know what Taxi service you used or what is the best to use? :) will probably be heading to universal around 3 or 4 times, sea world once, and aquatica once but fortunately those parks are closer to WDW than universal xx

I belive that there is a standard cab company that is in agreement with Disney. Its just the one company that you can really find throughout all the parks parking lots and downtown.

This is the same company you will find at Universal and most likely sea world too. Not quite sure of the company's name though.

Using Mears is cheaper unless you have 4 in the cab. They have pickups at all Disney resorts and they can be arranged at any am hour. They don't run for a couple of hours in the early afternoon, but will arrange pickup and return either in the morning, or 45 minutes after you call for a pickup from USO. We have been picked up at 4:30 and were back at POP(last stop) by 5:15.

Thanks to everyone who posted, the golynx.com website actually worked out the handiest as it offers a links bus from Disney transportation centre to Sea World and then there is an I-trolley bus that goes from Sea world to Universal Boulevard and it is only a 10 minute walk to Universal Studios entrance so this is great! There is also a shuttle bus leaving from Universal Studios to Busch Gardens and bus fares seem to be cheap enough :)
Thank you all! xx

where is the transportation centre in disney?

The ticket and transportation center TTC is where you board the monorail or the ferry to get to the MK from the parking lot.

Its also where you transfer to the Epcot Monorail from the MK monorail.

One issue is that no resort buses go to the TTC only a few buses that take you to AK or DHS. The good news is that I think this bus also stops at DTD on the way in and out of WDW. Also the buses to DTD don't start as early like they do to the parks. You may have to take a bus to the MK and then the monorail or ferry to get the TTC.

Using Lynx buses you may not get to Universal until 11:00 AM and you may have to leave early to catch the last bus.

One side thought, have you looked into staying at a hotel closer to Universal? It sounds like you are going to go 3 or 4 days there and it would save a lot of time on buses.

There's a sticky on the Universal board listing all kinds of transportation options, including Mears shuttles from Disney.

If you're planning on doing Universal for 3-4 days though, I definitely agree with the suggestion of staying closer to Universal for part of your stay!
