Hi all, we've booked the segway tour around epcot, the time we selected was the 8:30am tour.
We were wondering what time do the busses start running of a morning? We need to be there at 8:15am. If the busses dont start that early then what is the best way of getting there? Taxi maybe, and what would it roughly cost.

Thanks!

maybe someone can say for definite ( tyler where are you lol) but i think the buses should be up and running that time princess:

If you go to the transportation forum there's a guy who works for Disney transportation there who knows everything. Chip 'n' Dale Express is his sn.

You should be fine. I had a PS at Konahs last year at 7:30 am, the bus pulled up for MK at pop around 6:30 am. they took us right to the resort, but we got there so early, we actually went for couple monorail rides first since the place wasnt even open yet. :)

Make sure you get to Epcot early enough to get through the line to get in the gate. When we went this fall we arrived at maybe 8:10, but there was a long line of people going through the gate for the princess breakfast. The were checking of names before allowing entry since the park was not officially open yet and only one gate was open. The people ahead of us were trying to figure out which tickets to use and were standing blocking the machine for awhile and wouldn't let us go even though our tickets were in our hand ready. I can only imagine now that it will even be worse with the MYW tickets that require more finger scans (and that each person has their ticket as opposed to handing any ticket to any family member like before).

Bottom line, plan to get to Epcot by 8AM and you should be fine.

The Segway tour was a big highlight for me--probably my favorite thing I've ever done at a theme park!

Just be out at the Pop Century bus stop around 7:30am. Make sure to stand in the queue line... that way the dispatcher knows that there will be folks going to Epcot. Once they see you in the Epcot queue line, a bus will be dispatched within 5-15 minutes.

Thank you everyone for your advice, its good to see we wont have to get a taxi there.
I didnt realise the busses would be dispatched when we arrive in the queue area, I thought they ran like on a schedule at specific times only.
This will be out first time to WDW so we're learing new things every day :)

Thanks again

In the morning (pre 11am), we use something called "MOD" -- Magic On Demand. It's a demand based dispatching system. The dispatcher is in a van, usually parked across from the bus stops, although he/she can drive back to the bus staging area as needed. The dispatches are pre-set, and 10-15 minute intervals. However, because it's a demand based system, nothing is set in stone. If crowds start to build, extra buses can be dispatched from the staging area. If there are only a few people in line, the dispatcher will wait a few minutes to see if more will show up, and then dispatch a bus. However, if there is no one waiting in line, they won't send a bus. (Why waste a bus?)

There are other parts to the system as well that make it an extremely efficient system, but that's the basic Pop side of it all.
