We have a ressie for Chef Mickey at 8:20am on Saturday of Marathon weekend. What is the best way to get to CR and how long should we allow for transporation? We don't have a car, so will be taking the bus. We are staying at Ssr.

Thanks!

I am supposing that taking the bus to MK, then either walking over to CR or taking the resort monorail would be the best.

The 1/2 marathon is on Saturday. I just looked at the map. Mile 5 is on the road in between the CR and MK. Assuming the last group of runners leaves the start line of the 1/2 marathon by about 6:30 (first groups take off at 5:40 a.m.), even the slower runners and walkers should be clear of CR by 8 am.

I would allow extra time, because there will most likely be some traffic jams.

I was thinking that I should allow an hour to get there. Does that sound like enough time?

I am not sure how the transportation will work around that time and I am speaking from experience. In Janurary 1999 my family and I had checked out of the Wilderness Lodge and were on our way to Orlando International Airport. However it wasn't until 1 or 2 days before that we found out we are leaving the day of the Marathon. Well we left just around 8:00 AM and everything around World Drive and etc was congested because of the runners. I remember we had to go all way around and we were forced to take the back roads of WDW towards Downtown Disney so we could get towards Interstate 4.

We had a similar experience last year. It took us over 45 minutes to get from Pop to MK, because the bus driver detoured into no-man's land. He even made a complete circle once. We finally figured out that he was just driving until they released the intersection. Everyone applauded once we arrived. It was surreal.

In other words, it's impossible to predict what is in store.

You might want to take a bus to Epcot and then take the monorail. Won't have to worry about traffic at least.

ps, I will wave as I am running by:)
