Let's say you check-in on Thursday afternoon. You just want to take it easy, so you don't start your package until Friday. So you book "room only" for Thursday night. Your x-day package begins Friday morning.

Do you have to check out, and then check back in, Friday morning? Do you have to vacate your room and then get a new one? :confused3

when i book my package i just adjust my park tickets...usually ask for 10 nights but ask for only 9 day park ticket....since when i book my ressie i dont have my air yet...and in case (as has happened many times) i get in very late i wont go to a park the first day.

You ask for both reservations to be linked as "continuing reservations". They will try to keep you in the same room, but it's not guaranteed. When you check in for the first night they should be able to see in their system if the same room has been assigned to you for the package stay, BUT even this can change if they give that room to another person checking in the next day.

Yes, you check out/check in and will get new room keys with your package entitlements on them. Can do this early, I think the computers can check in as of 7am, and only one adult needs to go to the front desk if you are keeping the same room to get keys for everyone in the room. Best to to it early so they don't inadvertently assign that room to someone else.

Just a heads up that your Mousekeeper might not know you are staying. We've had that happen a few times when they've tried to clean the room early for a check out and we've told the maid that our stuff is staying and so are we. If we have a chance we call Housekeeping from the room the day before to let them know so they can schedule just the normal service for the room.

Of course if it's a different room category or different resort you'll have to change rooms.

Yeah, but if you buy a Magic Your Way package (and the Dining Plan), isn't it tied to the number of nights you're staying? So if you're staying 7 nights, you buy a 7-night package, no ifs ands or buts.

Nope; the dining plan is, but you can purchase as many days of tickets as you wish to use, as long as you book the minimum required for dining.

This is correct. The dining plan goes along with the number of nights as you can't do part of a package with the DDP and part not, but tickets can be as little as 1 day or as many as 10, your choice. As far as the ticket requirement for the DDP, a 1 day base is required when you pay for the DDP and a 2 day base minimum is needed for free dining.
