Transferring reservation points and holding points ?

Just passed ROFR on our BWV contract. It includes some points in holding and some reservation points. Back when we first made our offer I did some research and THOUGHT I found information that both points in holding and reservation points can be transferred. Today I have looked and looked and can't find anything that definitive. Odds are that we won't be able to use these and I would like the option of transferring to another member.

Can anyone help? Thank you.

It's my understanding, and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but holding points can't be trasferred. There are special rules around these points and they will expire if not used by the end of you use year. They can be used for exchange into other Disney resorts or the other collections, according to the member guide. They must be used to book a vacation "60 days or less before the new arrival date, during your current use year". I hope this helps.

Reservation points can't be transferred either. You will have to rent them and make a reservation in the renters name. I rented some this way last year from another DVC'er. They were reduced in price, since the going rate of $10/point would have been higher than a reservation through CRO.

According to the CM at MS, holding points CAN be transferred. They were a bit unsure as to reservation points and I said I would call back on Monday since it was late when I was on the phone with them and did not have much time.

I think that the only restrictions on holding points is that they can't be used to book more than 60 days in advance and they cannot be banked.

<font face="times" size="+0">I have made an outgoing transfer of Holding Points before. It is definitely allowed, and if you have any trouble performing the transaction, just ask to speak to a manager. The key here is that the Holding Points must have been originally "virgin" points, meaning before they became Holding Points they were not banked points or borrowed points.

(Trust me, trying to search using the terms "reservation" and "points" is not very productive for "reservation points") Have you had any experience in transferring reservation points, or do you happen to have the hard, fast facts on whether or not they can be transferred?

Reservations points can also be transferred. But like all things Disney, you may get different answers from different CM.

You are so right and that makes me crazy! I really like having the facts in writing, so there is no question or problem later. I would love a big chart, that somehow showed the "flow" of point status with the various possibilities. I would settle for comprehensive set of "rules" that cover all possibilities. I mean, Disney doesn't hesitate to tell you things like once points are borrowed they can't be banked, so why not sum up all rules regarding transfers, holding, reservation points, banking and borrowing.

I settle for just having them CONSISTENTLY enforce the rules THAT are in writing.

I definitely was not able to have them transferred to my account. I was told they could not be transferred via email from member services so I had the member make the reservation in my name. (she was also told the same thing when she called) Perhaps they were banked or borrowed points and that had something to do with it. Or perhaps, that is an override by a supervisor/manager. In any case, I tried to have it done and was told NO.
