Transferring Luggage Between DVC Resort and Pop Century?

I wasn't able to get the resort I wanted for my full vacation at Spring Break. So we will stay part of the trip at Pop Century.

Since we won't have a rental car, is there a Disney way to transfer luggage between hotels? For some reason, I had thought I had heard of such a thing. Otherwise, we will just take a taxi.

Any help will be great - thanks!

Half of our spring break will be at pop century, too! Of course, ours was a "lack of points but wanting to stay longer" problem :sad1: .....

We were told to contact bell services and request they pick up our luggage the morning of departure, and they'll transfer it to pop century for us. We were also told to keep a bag of things we'll need for the day because we won't have access to our luggage (they won't transfer it immediately, but rather sometime that day) We're thinking of renting a vehicle, though, so we may not have to do that.

But perhaps as more people wake up someone who has actually done this can chime in :yay:

We've transferred luggage from OKW to All Star Sports. It isn't a problem. The only downside was at All Stars, I called that night for our luggage and waited an hour, no luggage. I finally walked up to bell services and retrieved the bags myself. Hopefully POP has a better bell staff, or maybe the values don't offer the same level of bell services?

In my experiences, though, POP is far superior in quality overall to All Stars...nicer food court, and friendlier staff. I'd stay at POP again, but not All Stars.

But the actual transfer went fine.

Thanks for the responses!

I feel exactly the same as you do about the Value resorts. When at Pop, I almost feel like I am at a contemporary resort such as Coronado Springs - just so much better than the All Stars Experience! I have stayed at Pop for five of our trips, and the All Stars only once out of necessity.

Thanks again!

Just be aware that you won't be able to get your bags until late afternoon, at best. You may want to just get a cab...the resorts are pretty close to each other.

Actually I have done the luggae transfer many many times and a few from POP to BWV's to boot! It works like magic. I get up at 6 am the day of the transfer and take a taxi to my nexty resort and check in. Taxi back and a call to Bell Services. Bell Services tells you that you can just leave our bags but I always wait. I have a back pack that I put the families bathing suits in case we get back from the parks and our room isnt ready. Bags are available some time after 1 PM usually.

Enjoy and relax this is one of the easiest steps on your vacation!!!!

We did Pop the first night of our Thanksgiving week stay and asked that our bags be transferred to Beach Club Villas the next morning. Bell services at Pop said just leave it in the room and head out. Several people told us that was ok so we did it. We even left a note on the bags saying they were to go to the Beach Club Villas with a tip. At 9:00 pm, our bags were still nowhere to be seen. After several phone calls to bell services, they figured out that Pop sent our bags to Carribean Beach instead. They then kept telling me it was taking some time to figure out who at BCV would be going to Carribean Beach to get our bags, blah blah blah. We did get our bags back that night but as far as I was concerned, the bell staff at Pop, Carribean Beach and BCV were all at fault one way or another. By the end of the night, I was talking with the night manager at BCV, who was very nice. He listened to my story patiently and apologized, saying they do this all the time without a problem and I shouldn't be worried about doing it again. He also recovered nicely with a few surprises in our room a couple of days later and a generous credit on our folio. I would rather have had our bags at a reasonable time, but it did work. I think the suggestion to stay with the bags or take them to the bell services staff is a good idea. That way you can double check the paperwork. I left a very clear note, but they went the wrong way anyway. I wouldn't let it keep me from staying at two different resorts, I would just follow my bags for the handoff.

Have a great time! Pop was quite nice for the price!

No problem transferring luggage. We just returned from a trip that we split with friends. 4 nights at SSR then 4 nights at AKL. We even had another person arrive by DME on the day of the changeover. We called Bell Services at SSR the night before we were to switch and set up a time for them to pick up the bags. We kept a small backpack with items we needed for the day and they transferred the luggage right over to AKL. Off we went to the parks and when our new guest was about to arrive at AKL I bussed over to the lodge, checked in and since our room was not ready, we checked his bags at bell services and headed off to meet up with the rest of the group. Our bags were at AKL and all we had to do was call bell services once we were in our rooms and they delivered everything up to us.

To save some Disney time, we took a cab from AKL to Swan/Dolphin as the rest of our group was touring all the resorts for Xmas Decorations. The cost was $11.75 by cab. (worth it to save the 1/2 hr transfer time by bus to epcot, then walk to Swan/Dolphin for us.)

Have a great vacation!:dance3:
