When doing this, I know you are allowed *one* transfer per year. My question is this: Is the year a calendar year as in Jan. - Jan? Or is it determined by your use year? Say my use year is April - can I start over then and make another transfer even if I just transferred to someone in January? Hope this is clear! TIA! Candace

You can transfer any number of times that you wish. Only in one direction, and it is per UY.

Does that mean if someone transfers to you it can be done more than once in the same use year or does that just work with transferring out?

You can transfer IN or OUT as many times as you want in a given UY. You can't do both. It has to one way only. It stops someone from transferring HH points to someone for OKW points to use the 11 month window at those places. I hope this makes sense.

Now I get it. Makes perfect sense. Thanks!

Actually I think it's a minor deterrent for this situation, all you have to do is use different use years, not that hard to arrange.

Regarding Dean's comment, I have another transfer question. If someone transfers 2004 points to me, can I bank them to the 2005 use year -- and transfer my 2005 points to them? :confused3

Yes you can bank the points that you rec'd as long as they meet normal banking guidelines. You can only transfer your 2005 points once you get them. Can't borrow points and transfer, only use for a ressie requirement.

If you mean to say that you can only transfer 2005 UY points after the beginning of your 2005 UY, then this is not correct. I just transferred June 2005 UY points last week. Of course, the receiver can only use them for reservations that begin after June 1, 2005, because you can't borrow transferred points, but the points are in the receiver's account now, five months before the UY begins. I do not know how far in advance of a UY you are permitted to transfer that UY's points, although it would seem that at least 11 months should be permitted.

So yes, you should be able to do exactly this.

The transferred points should retain their use month and year (and not take on your use month and year), and banking rules for those points will follow that UY.

You can transfer 2005 points to them, but they will only be able to be used for reservations beginning in your use month in 2005. (In other words, they can't borrow the transferred points.)

I tried to transfer a small number of points, about 20 I think, (in addition to current UY points) to complete what another member wanted, about 1&1/2 years ago. MS said that would be borrowing points, and I couldn't transfer borrowed points. So, I guess I was given inaccurate information. Thanks for the update.

Yes, but in your case they were trying to make a resevation which would be borrowing.

I did the same as mochabean last year, so they are not the only one.

I didn't know then what the other member intended to do with the points, or when they were going to make a reservation. Neither did MS, since I could not have told them. My question was simply, I have 200 current UY points that I want to transfer, plus I want to transfer 20(or whatever it was) from next year's allocation. So somewhere either I miscommunicated, MS misunderstood, or misadvised.

My mistake. It just sounded like that I guess. Seems kind of weird they wouldn't let you do it then. Maybe because you were trying to do 2 different UY caused a problem?

Likely because the use years were different and the points transferred started after the intended reservation even though it was the same calendar year.
