Transfer Paper Questions

I have spent the last couple weeks reading everything I could here on this board. I LOVE it and am amazed at all of your talents!

We are getting married in WDW, with 15 family members and honeymooning on a Disney Cruise and at Universal.

I will be asking many of you shortly to do some designs for me....which brings me to my question!

I have read everything in the how to's but am still confused by transfer paper.

Light Paper--is this the one that everything white in the design shows color of shirt underneath? Does it look strange?

Dark Paper--is this the one that everything white will show white...which then results in the design needing to be trimmed?? how do you handle designs that are intricate? I would not be able to trim them properly!!

The light transfer paper will show the color of the shirt through any white areas in the design. I can't tell you how this would look, as I have yet to do any transfers myself. It is my understanding that even with light transfer paper you will want to trim the paper around the image or it will look funny when you transfer it to a shirt.

As far as intricate designs with dark paper, maybe you could put a simple border around your images so that you can cut it out more easily? Otherwise, just take your time and trim it well. I am only using designs with outlines I can easily cut around for any dark transfer paper I do, so for most I am trying to find borders or other simple shapes for the outside edges of the image.

I think many people use dark transfer paper no matter what as the colors supposedly show up more vibrantly. Good luck, and congrats on the wedding/honeymoon coming up!

Thanks for the advice.....I do think I will try to stick to borders and such when possible.
