I used the search forum but couldn't find this exact question/answer....

Our home station doesn't have checked baggage service. From what I read on here- we basically would have to bring all of our luggage on with us, store it in the back somewhere, etc. Okay, so now my question is- so is our luggage now considered carry-on? Thereby, limiting what we can bring on board to carry-on only restrictions? Or is the only difference being that we won't have someone to help us get it on the train and it is stored somewhere differently, but we're still allowed both 'checked' and 'carryon' luggage.

We are going on a 7 night Disney Cruise, so we have formal wear we have to bring, fish extender gifts, snorkel gear, etc. and definitely need as much luggage allowance as possible.

THANKS!!!:)

We also board at an unmanned station...no baggage service....you can take what's allowed in baggage types and your carry-ons....there's areas for storing you stuff....depends on what type of car you board and there's overhead storage in the coach cars.....basically it's what you can carry, reasonably...they will not help you schlep your luggage to the train....same for detraining...you get it off and if you're at a manned station....Red Caps are available to help haul your stuff into the station...

We always go with the adage...you want or need it...you must handle and tote it yourself....we get along fine with the required one bag, 50# limit and 2 carry-ons........and they do weigh them in stations..

It's not like at the airport, where "no checked bag" would mean super small, no liquids, etc.

You can bring a suitcase, but like the PP pointed out, there is no one to handle your luggage for you. You will have to bring your own bags aboard. Sometimes the storage is at the end of the car, sometimes right by your seat. If you have a sleeper car, you might be able to easily access your "checked" luggage, but I would advise sticking anything you think you'll need in your "carry on" and planning to NOT be able to easily get things in and out of the "checked" bag.

Good luck!
