Quick question. Is it faster to walk with my 5 year old from the MK entrance to FantasyLand, or should we take the train?

Is this his or your first visit? If yes to either one, don't worry about the time. There is nothing like walking down Main Street and seeing the castle for the first time. Besides, walking would probably be quicker if you had to wait for the train to come through and since it doesn't stop IN Fantasyland, you would be spend more time on the train than walking.

The train doesn't go to Fantasyland.....closest it comes is Toontown.

I agree with the above post. It is a beautiful walk, and it only takes a few minutes!!!:thumbsup2

Walk. The train, as mentioned above, doesn't stop in Fantasyland. And besides you will be missing so much if you skip the walk down Main Street and through the castle. The atmosphere, smells, sounds and the first glimpse of Fantasyland through the Castle throughway!

I agree with walking. By the time the train makes it's way through Frontierland (stopping to let off and let more on), and gets to Toontown (the closest stop to Fantasyland), you could walk it faster. My other thought is that, if you are doing this at park opening (usually 9am), Toontown doesn't open until 10am, so you would have to wait for that to open to even walk through to Fantasyland.

Walk!!! The walk down Main Street is one of my favorite things about visiting MK. With the castle as a back drop and then getting to walk through the castle to get to fantasyland is well worth it! Enjoy it...I am sure your five year old will be in heaven!:cloud9:

agree with the walking recommendation. We took our DD4 for the first time last November and walking down that street with the castle was simply tons of fun - her reactions and excitement were priceless.

Walk! There's nothing like walking down Main Street headed towards the castle.

Be sure to experience the train though, it's very cute.

I agree.... I do however suggest you take the train from either frontierland to toon town or vise versa which ever you decide see as how you would have to walk allway back through fanstasy land and frontier land other wise.

Definitely walk. If you take the train, you get off in Toontown, and it doesn't open until ten, so if you get there at opening (as you should), you probably won't even be able to get off at Toontown. (Oops, just noticed NCDisneyMom said that already. Well, she's right.) Plus, Dumbo is right behind the castle, and that's where you're headed first. You ARE headed there first, right? Because that thing builds lines faster than anything in the park, and at five, it's a must-do.

how about taking one of the mainstreet vehicles to the hub and then walk through the castle? I can tell you if your little one is normal, you will appreciate the looks of excitement on your five year olds face.
