Hello Disney Fans,

Wondering if the train at MK goes one direction or both directions around the park? Also has anyone used this method to get to Fantasyland instead of walking upon arrival at MK?
My family and I won't be in any rush at MK so thought it would be nice to start off with a train ride and then head to Fantasyland from the train stop, can anyone comment on this from your experience?

Thank you

The train travels clockwise around the Magic Kingdom and there is a station in the rear near Fantasyland.

The train is an excellent way to travel! You can certainly hop on the train and ride it to Fantasyland first thing in the morning. :)

I've used the train as a means of getting around the MK when I didn't want to walk. It's slower, but it can be relaxing. So, if you're not in a hurry, it's a fun way to get to Fantasyland (Toontown).

The Disney trains are very special and unique.

Of course riding behind live steam is always great!

While there's no reason you can't take the train to fantasyland, consider 2 things if this is your first trip to wow.
First, even if you don't think you will be in a hurry, it will likely take 20 or 30 minutes to ride the train to the fantasyland station. It would only take 5 - 10 minutes to walk. If its your first trip to Disney I would be too impatient to spend all that time riding around the park first thing. Plus while you ride the train first thing in the morning you will be missing the shortest lines of the day for all the other rides, the train has a short line all day.

The second thing is that it's the first thing when you enter the park, so you won't get to walk down main st to the castle and get your first real look at mk or get the first family photo in front of the castle (you could do the pic later of course)

Those are the reasons I would save the train for later, but definitely ride at some point!

I agree completely!

The train runs Main Street > Frontierland > Fantasyland > Main Street
