We're taking AMTRAK from NJ to Orlando, then shuttle service to WDW. Im looking for feedback/tips on the train ride, and/or the shuttle vans to WDW. We have the deluxe sleeper (private bathroom) for the long parts of the trip. We considered the Autotrain, but I didnt feel like driving 4 hrs just to get on a train. We dont need the car at WDW, and the difference was only about $200.....well worth not having to drive 4 hrs to and from Virginia.

Love to hear from all......

So I can expect the following:

A dirty bathroom in the short 'coach' part of the trp
Clean bathroom in my sleeper car for the long part of the trip
Bring books, toys, dvd player, food on board
Bring blanket/pillow
Expect to leave NJ on time, but leave DC late and arrive at Orlando late

Some rude attendants
Some nice attendants
Expensive snacks for sale

All in all, you take the good with the bad . BESIDES, my wife will NOT go on a plane. So we will be prepared!!

Many thanks to all for the advice.............

arrive at Orlando late

This is not necessarily true in all cases. On my last 2 trips (Jan & Feb), the train was ontime (NY to Kissimmee). The timing depends on many factors, some of which are out of Amtrak's control.

If you have a sleeper, blankets and pillows are not needed. Pack your own snacks.

Enjoy the ride--think of it as part of your vacation--not just a meas of getting there. :)
