Trails End Buffet

Yum!! This place sounds great!! DH and I will be returning for our second trip to the World in Feb 09 and are looking for other places to have a great breakfast!! We will be doing deluxe dining again, but need to pay for 3 meals OOP due to eating at a few sig restaurants. Could someone let me know how much breakfast is?? TIA!

I think breakfast is $11.99 for adults and like $7.99 for kids:thumbsup2

IIRC lunch is $12.99 (no ribs at lunch)
and Dinner $18.99

Good option for you oop meals

Thanks so much!! We were looking for some affordable TS meals we could do since we are doing the DxDDP and are doing some sig restaurants requiring 2 credits each.

Do you need an ADR or can you pretty much get in without one?

You probably could, and if you were staying at FW it would be no biggie, but considering for most other people it takes getting on a bus then a boat to get there, I recommend calling Disney dining before you leave your resort or whichever park you're at that day. Even if its less than an hour before you want to eat. It takes only a few minutes to call, or use the concierge desk at your resort, or guest services. I never just walk up anywhere, since its so easy to make a quick phone call and it could save me the trip.

I will say that I've called Disney dining from MK, and was sitting in Trail's End with a party of 7 less than a half hour later.:thumbsup2

We stay at the Fort Wilderness campground once or twice every year, and we always have at least one meal at Trail's End. We've been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My personal favorite is the breakfast buffet - unless you're there for "holiday pricing" I think it's the biggest food bargain at WDW. It has all the breakfast staples, including the Mickey waffles. Lunch and dinner are pretty much the same food. I'm not a fried chicken and ribs eater, but my kids are, and there's still plenty I can find to eat. The salad bar is decent, the chili and soups are good, the desserts are good, there's always fresh fruit and I've always found the service to be quite good once you get seated. Many times when we've been there it's been massive confusion and a long wait to get seated - lots of empty tables but no one being seated. I thought it would get better when they started taking reservations, but I was wrong, although on our last trip (November) it seemed to have noticeably improved. Overall I'd recommend Trail's End. If you know you're going, definitely call for a reservation.

I'm sorry but I think I may be a discenting voice. We ate @ TEB during Thanksgiving week last year and were quite underwhelmed. The food was adequate and the service was what is to be expected at Disney. The selection was, in my opinion, poor. There may have been about 15-20 hot items on the dinner buffet. If I'm paying nearly $20 per person, I would really like a lot more selection. Golden Coral or Ryans are less than $12 each and have exponentially more choices and the food is as good and in some cases better. If you are staying at Ft. Wilderness, it would be ok for a meal but I will not ever plan on making a special trip again. I'm sorry to be the bad news person:confused3 , I just couldn't let you read all great reviews and then be disapointed.

I think the key is buffets at Disney are expensive and in relative terms TEB is cheap at Disney and pretty good food. Dinner is $22 with tip, but a buffet like you've described would be $32 at Boma(non character buffet). I don't think most think this is just the most fabulous buffet, but rather believe for the price its a good deal at Disney.

Another feature of the buffet is that you can have a takeout. We tookout a white meat chicken dinner last time at the fort. Breast, fries, slaw, biscuits for 4 at about $25. A bit high but it fed us two nights in our campsite. You can do this for any lunch or dinner. They give you a styrofoam container for each course and you fill it up as you want. This includes, soup and dessert containers also for the regular buffet price. Another good way to feed several people back at the campsite.

Unfortunately you can no longer get the buffet to go.

They still have a take out menu with chicken and pizza, but you are no longer allowed to get the actual buffet to go:sad1: It was a great deal. I used to fed my family of 4 on one buffet to go, which I guess is the reason they stopped it!

DW and I are regular visitors to WDW and have eaten in most of the restaurants (at least once). We usually agree on what is good and what is not. But in the case of TEB we definately don't agree. I think that for the price, it is a pretty good meal on Disney property. DW (who is not a big meat eater) does not like the food selection or the location of the restaurant. I have to agree with her on the location. The bus ride in seems very long, when you are hungry. When we left the restaurant it was dark and the bus ride back to the parking lot seemed very eerie. There were not many people on the bus and when we got to the parking lot, we were the only people there and it felt somewhat unsafe. Maybe we were just letting our imaginations get away from us.
Anyway, there are too many restaurants that we agree are wonderful (Boma comes to mind first) for us to make a return trip to TEB.

We booked a dinner at TEB (never been) for supper and then are following up with the Chip and Dale Campfire singalong and movie. I heard about this on the DIS and am excited to try it!!

Is this easy to get to by boat from the Magic Kingdom?

Or near the FW Segway Tour starting point?

Explain to me how I get there. I will be driving over and it looks like I park in a Ft.Wilderness parking lot and then catch a bus down to where we eat. Is this correct? Will it be marked as to where to board bus and where it is going?

We had dinner at TEB on May 17th. I have to say, we were really looking forward to this meal, and we were quite dissappointed. DS9 and DS5 are big fans of 'down home' food - fried chicken, ribs, mac and cheese. Both hardly ate anything and the oldest said if we go back to Ft Wilderness we should go to the Backyard BBQ again because he didn't enjoy TEB. As far as getting there goes, we drove from POP due to time constraints. We parked in the guest lot (second entrance - signposted as Pioneer Hall), then caught the internal resort bus to Pioneer Hall. A short walk and you're right there. There is also a boat from Magic Kingdom. One other issue we had with TEB was that to use the restrooms, we had to exit the restaurant and walk around to the other side of the building. I'm not sure if there is another one inside, but after asking the server (who was very good, by the way) these were the directions he gave.
All in all, I like the ambience of the resort, but we won't be quick to try Trails End Buffet again.

when we were there breakfast opened at 7 and lunch began at 11:30... not sure if the times are seasonal though so I would check somewhere like allearsnet.com to see if they have the hours.

I have heard about how great Trails End so I gave a whirl a few weeks ago. very overrated. The food is fine but you are basically getting average ribs, KFC chicken, and a mediocre salad bar. Its edible but far from great.

Its not that easy to get to either. Once you get there you then need to take an internal bus system which while not complicated is somewhat annoying

We just ate at Trails End a couple days ago. We started our trip with this dinner and followed it up with the Campfire and Sing-A-Long. Trails End was just OK. Our table was right at the entrance so there was a ton of people around our table all the time..not the greatest when you have a 1 year old who enjoys throwing food and pulling on people's coats..LOL (I'm trying to teach her..promise). :)
There was not a lot of selection here, but what was out was definitely good. I loved the mashed potatoes, they were wonderful. The chicken was good and the salad. Hubby liked all his food, as did the kids.
The desserts however were awful. :(. The brownies, rice crispies treats, cake...it was all very stale. From reading these reviews it doesn't seem that it is the norm..but it was definitely very bad last Thursday evening.
Our waitress was ok, not the best service, but not awful either.

Will probably try again sometime.
