Last week driving by Fort Wilderness, we noticed a fair number of trailers parked in the parking lot at the entrance. Most were not attached to vehicles. Are these people that have checked out, but not leaving until later that day and needed their vehicle that day to do other things? Seems like a lot of work to unhook a trailer for a few hours. Maybe WDW is offering a reduced rate at FW if you camp IN the parking lot ! ROTFLMAO

If you are at a campsite, there is a limit to the size and number of vehicles you can have there. Some people bring their cars or golf carts on trailers and that may exceed what can be at the site itself. So they are parked in the overflow lot up front. You can also leave your packed up rig in the lot on check in and check out date if you prefer not to drive the whole thing to the parks.

We just stayed at the Fort in August. We started at a Cabin, then switched to a site. So we left the trailer in that lot the first night.
Some people will leave their trailer if they’re heading on a cruise, doing a split stay, things of that nature.
