First, why, just because you think it is "stupid", does that mean it is "stupid"? Your opinion may be that it is, but that doesn't make it so.
Second, for sake of argument, let's agree it is "stupid". Does that not make it entertainment? Does everything HAVE to be "smart"? If all movies were "smart", then where is the balance or difference in entertainment?
Isn't it just possible they all can live in the same world?
It's interesting you quote Paul Greenglass. I love the two Bourne movies he did but couldn't stand United 93. Hated it. That doesn't mean it shouldn't have been made. It just wasn't for me.
I find some of Oliver Stone's movies "stupid". But I understand why they are made and that they should be out there. It's entertainment. They're not trying to change the world (well, Oliver Stone and Michael Moore might be). Just trying to have some fun.
If you don't like it, no big deal. But just because you think it's "stupid" doesn't mean it is.
