Can a local tell me about when traffic startes to get bad in the LA area on Friday afternoons?

I google mapped Victorville to Marina Del Ray. Google Maps said it was 99.9 miles and the time would be about 1 hour and 37 minutes. Then in lighter print it says up to 4 hours 30 minutes in traffic.

I know traffic starts to thicken up about 3:00 pm here and then usurally clears about 7:00 pm. What is the time for the LA area -- give or take.

Thanks for your help. I just do not want to sit an extra 3 hours in traffic.

In SoCal, people tend to leave the office very early on Friday. Many entertainment companies, for example, close at around 2 or 3.

Rush hour on Fridays is typically 2PM to 8PM.

I've run into the same thing. You should plan for the worst, and hope for the best. :)

I drove from Ventura to LA Friday and the 101 started getting heavy in the west valley. This was at 12:00.

Wow! That is terrible! I wonder if it will be the same or worse if I go on Saturday instead? I just hate driving a long way and then sitting in the traffic parking lot for hours. :rolleyes1

Yes, friday's are just horrible but Saturday should be fine, especially if you leave in the morning.
