They both did a great job but I gave the edge to the Lt. Blue Team. I had a hard time deciding though. I kind of wish they had not been given the extra from Home Depot because it would have made it easier to really see who was the more creative of the two teams. With all the new stuff it was hard to see what the teams did but I think the Plaster on the walls was the clincher for me

I thought it was close too, but I voted Yellow. I thought the color was much prettier than what the Lt. Blue team did and overall, created a more cheery atmosphere. I also liked what they did with the table challenge better.

I missed it. Who was light blue and who was yellow?

I voted Lt Blue. The whole thing came together much better in their room. I also thought they were more successful in their shopping challenge. (Where did yellow come up with the tile??)

And what clinched it was how Vilma reacted to her room. When asked what their chance was "Oh we have a real good chance" Lt Blue was a bit more humble.

I wonder what the "twist" will be next week?!

Angel was the one that answered "we have a real good chance". Vilma did have positive things to say about the kitchen. Honestly, I was totally torn between both teams and I thought both kitchens looked equally wonderful. I liked both teams from the beginning but when Angel made that comment, I had to give my vote over to the light blue team with that one comment. They both deserve to win, though from their designs.

I also think they would have been better to keep their designers from the beginning and given a different challenge, though. I don't know of a challenge, but I did not like that challenge to change the designers.

I bet the twist is that the home owner that won from the drawing has to trade houses with the winner from tonight to get the mortgages paid for!!!! HAHAHAHA (I would not mind to move to Orlando!)

I voted light blue, although I sat for a few minutes and really thought about it. I liked both rooms very much, but I give the edge to light blue for their creativity & I thought their room blended together very well. I did not care for that sky/light blue on the walls that the yellow team was so insistant upon. And I thought that Vilma could have given Doug just a LITTLE more credit when he kept trying to hint to them the chocolate curtains (I think he was honestly trying to tell them that perhaps the light blue team would like it since they were doing that chocolatey/mocha color!!) would look sharp. And I also thought the light blue team was a bit more humble than the yellow team, and that appeals to me a lot. But I really thought both rooms were very, very well done. It was a toughie!

Definitely the Light Blue team. I've liked them through the whole contest. The other team I liked the light blue team already beat last week. Both rooms came out nice tonight but I thought the light blue team had a very creative solution for the shopping challenge tonight, handled the designer swap better, and had a better attitude.

I voted for lt. blue, but it was a hard decision. I really liked both rooms. I gave the edge to lt. blue as they were a little more creative, and they also accepted the change in designers better. (Although I could see why they might be skeptible about Doug, they could have been more receptive to is suggestions)

I was so torn in the beginning but lt blue ended up getting my vote after I thought about how they handled the whole challenge.

I loved the venetian plaster walls but I wish they had used a more contrasting color to make the newly faced cabinets pop. At least on my tv it looked like the colors were competing.

Outside of that the room was gorgeous and they put in 100% more work than the yellow team. I liked the way they answered Ty and Doug/Frank whenever they said "You do know you only have 2 days" - they didn't cut projects, they just said they would have to work harder. I also liked how they even seemed somewhat disappointed that they were going to buy the new countertop and would not be doing the work themselves on a mosaic countertop.

Their creativity is through the roof. I couldn't imagine what they would do with those bundles of logs but came out with a beautiful rustic table. This man should sell furniture made from "found" objects!

Now yellow - the kitchen looked very nice but it could have been because they already had nice cabinets and then add the sleek new appliances and it looked great. But is that the yellow teams work? Not really. Yes they picked out the appliances but who wouldn't go for top of the line stainless steel when you have that kind of $$ to spend!

I realize what made the room really "pop" for me was the window treatments - the dark border along the edges. That was Doug's input which if I remember he had to argue for. If they hadn't agreed to that it would have been very flat in that area.

I did tune in somewhat late so I'm not sure but it seemed like the table that the yellow team built was kind of small. Was it just my imagination? Is that the main "kitchen table"?

Now, on another topic - I was wondering if we have enough Trading Spaces fans that would be interested in keeping a "Trading Spaces Fans" thread going - where we can talk about the new episode or the reruns... If you guys are interested, let me know on this thread and I'll get an official Trading Spaces home started up for us!

I would be interested in a TS thread.... I'm a huge fan of the show.

I voted for the lt. blue team also. I was somewhat torn. But I was somewhat concerned about how the yellow team approached the "table" challenge. Did they get those tiles for free?? I don't think so. So, IMHO, the lt. blue team fulfilled the challenge a bit better. I understand that there were some supplies for the table (nails, screws, sandpaper, grout) that would have been difficult/impossible to get for free, but I thought the lt. blue team made more of an effort to stick to the "free" idea. But I did have to think about my vote for a few minutes.

In my opinion, one of the reasons that the red team from last week didn't win was because of the way they handled the $2000 challenge (one high end object/one thrift store object, make them look as identical as possible). To take those glasses (not worth anywhere NEAR $2000) and just crush them up..... I thought it was sort of a cop out. Although both teams ended up sort of "giving away" most of the money!

Just my opinion anyhow.....................P

I guess I'm the only one who voted for yellow instead of blue. I thought the light blue kitchen was awful. The wall treatment was pretty much the same as their first room, minus the food pigments, and I really disliked it the first time (but voted for them for creativity). I thought the idea about the veneer was great, but the execution was just horrible. That is going to be a big mess to deal with for the yellow team (when they showed one or two up close shots at the end, it's clear the veneer is still bubbling awfully). Finally, I thought the big black hole that the refrigerator created in the room also looked terrible. Of course they didn't really have time to plan things, but it really needed an end panel to hide the black side of the fridge. The only thing they won out on for me was that kitchen table for creativity but for practicality, what a disgusting mess that unfinished wood is going to be the second something spills on it. That table really needs a piece of custom glass over it to work.

The yellow team's kitchen was much better, but mostly I just liked the way they dealt with Doug. He has been openly scornful of them before, making fun of them and their taste (or lack of it according to him) and since they've been airing the shows pretty soon after taping, I'm sure they were aware of the obnoxious remarks that he made during their reveals. The whole point is for the homeowners to have the majority of the input into the rooms and they stood up to Doug, who is generally quite the bully, but were smart enough to take his advice on certain things. I do wish they hadn't used tile on the kitchen table challenge but I just hated Lt. Blue's room that much that I couldn't bring myself to vote for them.

Actually, I have never liked ANY of Lt. Blue's rooms, but voted for them based on creativity... I just couldn't bring myself to do it this time because before they had creativity with good execution... this time they had creativity with what I considered to be a lousy execution.

We actually decided not to vote in this round. Neither team seemed to have worked as hard or as freely as they did in earlier rounds. I think the huge budget just kind of ruined the whole thing and they slapped stuff together. Didn't really like either room and the poor designers weren't really allowed to do what they do well (both of them have some real strengths the couple could have tapped in to). Also, after three new rooms and thousands of $$ worth of appliances, it seems that at least one of them could have realized how much they go out of this even if they don't get their mortgage. (I do like Vilma, though. Hope Ty and Carter give her big old autographed pics ;) )

Edited ti add....it was clear after last night the the light blue team was much more concerned, in all of their rooms, with executing THEIR vision rather than really trying to put a room together for the other home owners. Nothing wrong with that, but it was a bit more anoying last night.

I had to vote for the Lt. Blue team. The fact that the yellow team used tile on the table was the deciding factor for me - you weren't supposed to BUY anything! I thought it was a blatent violation of the rules but was totally glossed over. I really didn't care for the wood table, but at least it followed the rules.

Overall I wasn't really impressed with either of the rooms - didn't hate them, but didn't love them either.

Wonder why no one worked with Vern on any of these episodes? Where has he been lately?

I agree with Galahad. I didn't bother voting either. I think Doug had a superior attitude throughout the whole thing, (which is nothing unusual for Doug), but I didn't care for the way either of the teams had tunnelvision when it came to their designs.

I thought the yellow team's wall color didn't do anything to make the kitchen stand out, and I thought both kitchen tables were very impractical. The tile table was no bigger than a small card table, and was pretty ugly. The blue team's table was cute to look at, but you could never eat off of it. Like someone else said, you need glass on top of it. Even then it was too small and strangely shaped to be practical. Plus the kitchen was very contemporary with all the stainless steel. a rustic table just didn't fit in at all.

The only thing I liked about either of the kitchens was the counter tops, the floors and the appliances, and all of those were purchased and then installed by someone else. I guess that's why I decided that neither team would get my vote. I didn't like anything that the actual team members worked on. I could have done SO much more with $20,000. ;) :p

By the way, did anyone else notice how badly Ty screwed up the plastered walls in the blue team's room? It must have been a pain to fix all those scrapes. He does such an amazing job on the Extreme Home Makeover show, but usually manages to screw up spmething on TS.

He is, apparently, no longer with the show. The story floating around is that the other designers (and the producers in general) were getting a bit miffed that Vern kept finding ways to get around the $1000.00 limit on his rooms by pulling in favors, not turning in his receipts, etc.

MeanLaureen, had I read your remarks prior to voting I think you would have changed my vote. I voted Yellow, but you make some really good points here. I liked the "feel" of Angel and Vilma's room better, but you're right the Lt. Blue's creativity was through the roof on this one and the past ones. Although, I could not imagine actually using that table and I agree that the Veneer I am sure looks terrible up close. I can't think of what the yellow team actually added to the room after the challenge of Home Depot was added to the mix because her idea of crown modling was nixed. They basically chose a paint color. But that being said, I voted for them because of the fact that I have actually loked all their rooms and I have not really liked the light blue team's rooms. It will be very interesting to see how this turns out because I am torn so I am pretty sure there must be a lot of other people torn about it too.

I am a huge fan that would pipe up in a thread about TS on a regular basis.

Yeah, I think we would. Especially if you add While You Were Out to the mix - we like both of them. :D

I would definitely like a TS thread and would post often!!!

I voted for Light blue last night. I really think they were able to do "more" with the money then the yellow team.

I also don't like how the yellow team just threw a tiny wine-fridge at the end of a countertop..it would have looked MUCH better if it was 'built in' the cabinetry.

And as the blue team really changed out the cabinets - the yellow team didn't even add hardware to the cabinets (unless memory fades me)

And yes I don't think the tile should have been part of that table...although it came out quite nice...I still think the light blue team did a MUCH better job on the challenge.

And to whoever said something about the 'black hole' with the stainless steel fridge...I have the same thing in my house...trust me, you don't even notice it after a while (especially after you put up all your 'kitchen stuff" (memo board/magnets/calendar) as the black part is the only part of the fridge that will hold magnets! hehe)
