I guess I'm the only one who voted for yellow instead of blue. I thought the light blue kitchen was awful. The wall treatment was pretty much the same as their first room, minus the food pigments, and I really disliked it the first time (but voted for them for creativity). I thought the idea about the veneer was great, but the execution was just horrible. That is going to be a big mess to deal with for the yellow team (when they showed one or two up close shots at the end, it's clear the veneer is still bubbling awfully). Finally, I thought the big black hole that the refrigerator created in the room also looked terrible. Of course they didn't really have time to plan things, but it really needed an end panel to hide the black side of the fridge. The only thing they won out on for me was that kitchen table for creativity but for practicality, what a disgusting mess that unfinished wood is going to be the second something spills on it. That table really needs a piece of custom glass over it to work.
The yellow team's kitchen was much better, but mostly I just liked the way they dealt with Doug. He has been openly scornful of them before, making fun of them and their taste (or lack of it according to him) and since they've been airing the shows pretty soon after taping, I'm sure they were aware of the obnoxious remarks that he made during their reveals. The whole point is for the homeowners to have the majority of the input into the rooms and they stood up to Doug, who is generally quite the bully, but were smart enough to take his advice on certain things. I do wish they hadn't used tile on the kitchen table challenge but I just hated Lt. Blue's room that much that I couldn't bring myself to vote for them.
Actually, I have never liked ANY of Lt. Blue's rooms, but voted for them based on creativity... I just couldn't bring myself to do it this time because before they had creativity with good execution... this time they had creativity with what I considered to be a lousy execution.
