Trading Spaces feather show

Anybody like the room? It's going to take weeks to get those feathers off the wall! And next week Hildi is putting cardboard on some poor person's walls. I think the producers said to her, "Look, Hildi, people love to hate you, so just think of the most outrageous things you could possibly do, whether they look terrible or are impractical, and just do them. We'll get great ratings."

I didn't like the orange and blue room either.

I saw the previews and was afraid to see it after the flower fiasco in that gorgeous bathroom! Give me Frank any day, although she does seem so nice!

How come it is on those shows when someone says....I hate lime green, don't touch my fireplace, leave .......alone, do the designers think that they should just go ahead and do exactly the opposite of what the home owners say.

Some of those ideas are pretty far out,,,,like putting wine labels up in a ministers home....come on what were they thinking????

I like the look of the room as a whole but OMG!! what possesses that woman to glue things to the walls??

I thought the cardboard episoide was for TS Family ?

I'm convinced that the directors LIKE her craziness!! I would run SCREAMING if she was anywhere near my home!!

I didn't see the finished room, fell asleep. I think it'll come back on ths afternoon.

Oh, and I just LOVE that adorable Barry! He could decorate my neighbor's house anytime!!

I have far too many allergies to dust and pollen to have dust/particle catchers stapled or glued to my walks. I hate Hildi and I am starting to hate Trading Spaces for screwing up a good show just to increase ratings. Maggie

I saw that today. The homeowners liked it....usually they hate what Hildi does to their rooms. The room itself looked a little too "intimate" to me. The feathers are another thing though....

Barry's room seemed too colorful....can you say Pop Century?

That woman is insane! I liked the room, except for the feathers. Some other type of wall treatment would have been better. The flower bathroom was unbelieveable. I know those people are going to take the flowers off. The same thing for the feather room. Hildi just doesn't believe in using just paint. She has to use things like newspaper, cardboard, etc. to put on the walls. I would be afraid to be on the show in case she is picked to design my room!

I actually stopped watching this show a couple of years ago because of the outrageous things Hildi did. Count me as a huge Changing Rooms fan.

The thought of feathers made me sneeze just thinking about it. I couldn't believe it when I heard Hildi say her house was done all in white, so she wasn't sure if she'd ever use feathers in her own home.

Hildi drives me nuts----I strongly feels she does things just becaues she CAN! I really thought the room was quite beautiful except for the freakin feathers..I shudder at the thought of taking them off. I thought Barry's room was wild- not my taste at all.

Where's Vern? I think he's been on an episode or two of Trading Spaces Family this season, but has he been on the regular show at all? Overall, I love his rooms best, followed (overall) by Laurie. And when I like Doug's rooms, I LOVE THEM---he more than any other designer I think has similar taste to mine, but when he gets kooky and off the wall, I don't like it. For example- I LOVED that office/guest room he did that had the big squares of different shades of purple on the wall; hated the bedroom where he put prison bars up...but I could deal with that more than Hildi's feathers/flowers/wine labels/painting upholstered furniture/painting a mural of herself on the wall/hay and any other crazy ideas I am forgetting.......

I have come to prefer Changing Rooms too and the half-hour length suits my short attention span! Changing Rooms did a behind the scenes episode and during one part of it Laurence (one of the designers) visited a couple who hated the job he did so much that a national magazine redid the room for free. He squirmed a little when they confronted him about the room. I would like to see Hildi and maybe Doug revisit some of their atrocities. Now that would be entertaining!

But did you see the show where he did their room? Granted it was truly awful BUT.....

that same couple were asked by the people whose house they were working on NOT to touch their pine staircase. It was the reason they bought the house. And they had gleefully painted said forbidden staircase. I thought they deserved the horrid room they got.

And also in the " behind the scenes " episode..when that woman complained that the pictures they hung made her husband look bald...and the guy is as bald as an eagle LOL

And did you see the episode where Lawrence and Linda did rooms in each other's houses? Talk about a taste of your own medicine.

I thought the feather room looked beautiful except for the feathers. What was she thinking? She goes over the top too much for my tastes.

I love watching to see what Hildi is doing next. I would hate to have her design a room for me, but it's so fun to watch (although you have to feel sorry for those people whose rooms she "fixes") I would much perfer to have Laurie or Kia design a room for me.

Boy this episode is popular. i think this is the third thread I've seen on it. That said, I'd scream royally if i came into my bedroom to find feathers on the walls.
Here's a hint for Hildi: Anything you wouldn't do in your own house, DON'T DO IN SOMEBODY ELSE'S. geeze

But yeah, I'm gonna watch the cardboard episode just to see how far she takes it. I already know i won't like the room. But i wanna see an owner scream. Just once LOL

My thing with Hildi is... if you're going to do something that extreme, at least make it somewhat easily reversible. I'm all for going nuts and letting the designers do what they want -- that's why you do the show. But when she put 5,000 nail holes in that bathroom to put up those flowers, glue on the walls for the hay, hot glue for the feathers, etc... that's just going too far. If those people want to take the flowers down in their bathroom, they will have to put up new sheetrock! It's nuts! She could have easily attached those flowers to fabric and hung THAT on the walls, and the same goes with the feathers. I'm all for the designers having freedom, but don't permanently destroy something (like the time Hildi painted the lady's grandmother's FABRIC chair! ack!!).

p.p.s. I got hooked on Changing Rooms before TS even started. It's still my favorite of the two, but Carol Smiley is leaving next season and rumor is Laurence will host. Not sure about that...
