Trading Spaces Fans: How do you like "While You Were Out???

As with Trading Spaces, I watch it for the CARPENTER....

.. but the rest of the show seems to be a warmed over Trading Spaces, even the hosts are trying to be "Paige"...

I really wish they'd tell the unsuspecting person before they get to the door because some of those guys look absolutely befuddled... and look as if they're going to punch out the cameraman!!

HATE the questions and the prizes, my sister loves them...

What do you think?

DW is the expert on trading spaces in our house, she also likes that CARPENTER guy
I can occasionally watch that show, normally to see how obnoxious the rooms come out and the reactions of the people
That while you were out gets on my nerves....as you said the questions are dumb and so is the plot. I have already decided never to away from home for more then one night in fear of what might happen

I enjoy the show & think the Q&A add something different to the show.

What I don't understand is how gullable the guys are in believing that this show or that show or whatever is doing a story and want them to be the "star" or whatever....to me that is very "here's your sign."

All the shows I've seen seem to be wives that want to redecorate so they pretend it's all about their husband - who could probably care less. I watched, but probably wont' bother anymore unless I'm sick and there's nothing else on.

i watched it once or twice...decided that i didn't like it. the host annoyed me!

but i LOVE trading spaces! i would watch that all day long! i would like to be on the show, but i would not want hildy, doug, or frank anywhere's near my house! they frighten me...the only way that iw ould let the new gal in my house is if she did the flying carpet theme in my room! now, that was cool!!

It's funny how WDW2002 mentioned liking the Q&A section. That's the part of the show that drives me and DW Sue absolutely batty! I wish that they would spend more time focusing on the actual improvements and less time on the "we'll see whether she wins the _____ after a few words from our sponsor." They spend half of the show recapping what happened in the previous segment.

Give me Trading Spaces any day.

I've tried and tried to like this show, but I just can't. I LOVE Trading Spaces, though, give me a TS marathon any day!

I think for me, I've grown so used to Paige, Ty, Vern, etc. that I can't warm up to Teresa, Andrew, etc. even though its a different show, I just can't get used to it.

It's ok, but it's no Trading Spaces. I do think though, that I would rather BE on While You Were Out, instead than TS. Mostly because you can actually see what is going on with your room, and can veto anything bizarre. Also, they generally have a larger budget which is nice. I've seen a couple that had $2000 budgets for a patio/deck. I could do a lot with that!

I watch it every now and then...Andrew...what a babe!!! I don't like it as well as Trading Spaces but its okay.

Oh and I saw the other day where MTV was coming up with a show where stars come decorate your house. One showed Tommy Lee and Sammy Hagar getting out of the van. Oh my is all I have to say to that one.

The only Tommy Lee that can come into MY house is Tommy Lee JONES!!

And that Andrew IS a babe. My sister left me an article about Ty and Andrew. How in the world did these shows find MODELS who are also CARPENTERS???

That show is cool too. I also like to watch 'Changing Rooms' which was the UK precursor to Trading Spaces.

Did any of you see the 'While you were out' episode where the lady lost the first two quizes and got so stressed out she walked away from the house? They told her to stay away and let them finish so she sat out drinking martinis to calm her nerves. You can tell when the hubby came home she was feeling no pain with the liquor in her system. Just hysterical!

DW Sue called me this morning after watching an episode of Changing Rooms. The episode was about some Disneyland Paris CM's that were going to decorate each others' flats. During the show the cameras followed the CMs at work. Sue tried to record the program for me, but she forgot to switch channels. She ended up recording Barney instead. Oh well. At least I got to hear about the program.

Robin, I have to give it to Andrew over Ty though....even though Ty is a cutie Andrew is a HOTTIE! I think I would give Andrew Ty's personality though.

Yes!! I thought What a WITCH but then you don't know how she really is, maybe she just got stressed out because other people were in her house. I don't know though she didn't give the "Public" a really good side of her did she.

I've noticed that, too! I wonder if they do this for drama, though, because it seems to happen every episode now. This weekend he just about gave me a heart attack!

BTW, Ty lives somewhere here in Atlanta! I hope they get to interview him sometime soon here! They WILL be talking about that meeting for a loooooong time!

I thought Robin's thread was going to be a serious discussion about the pros and cons of HGTV shows. Instead what do I get...? Discussion of how cute the carpenters are. Really, women can just take a legitimate topic and drag it down to the most base level Now, a show about Hooter's girls who remodel your place would be a good idea. Guys? Who's with me?
