BTW, what did you think of that previous episode where Hildi stapled those silk flowers all over that gorgeous bathroom? I've seen that episode two times before, and it still shocks me every time I see it - LOL!!

OMG!!!

I can't believe that Hildi stapled those flowers all over that bathroom, and that the homeowners acted so gracious about it! And painting the woodwork gold was just the icing on the cake.


It's hard to come up with words to describe the new depths of hideousness (hideousity?) that Hildi found. Let's see: gaudy, brothelesque, cheap, tacky, ugly, burlesque, fire hazard, cheesy, claustrophobic, did I say ugly yet? That room would have been too much even for Liberace!

And it was a very nice, spacious and lovely master bath when she started!

if i were to ask trading spaces to do my house it would have a stipulation... NO HILDI.... give me Vern, or Geniveve anytime.... shoot i'd let Ty decorate my house....

LOL! That's what happened to me, too. I didn't bother turning it on at all tonight because I didn't want to see that again. Already saw it at least twice. Maybe the WDW show will be on tomorrow afternoon.

There was an article in my local paper about how a lot of the people undo the makeovers pretty quickly. Even many of those that say they like it on air, don't really like it. It says a lot of the paint jobs are shoddy and the materials used are cheap. (I always wonder how they get the painting done since it would take me two days just to prep and paint.) There's a website some woman has started where she tracks the "history" of the makeovers. Unfortunately, the article didn't actually give the web site. They also questioned whether some of the shows are done intentionally to get a rise out of the homeowners. The infamous "brown" show was given as an example.

I liked the *idea* of the martini bar, but I wish it had been executed a little better.

I wish the materials hadn't been so cheap (that flashing was pretty bad.) And I would like to see more detail in the room- the edges of the bar top weren't finished at all, and was there anything on the walls other than the stick on mirrors?

The aluminium bar was the WDW episode? I missed the beginning. I liked that room, it looked like it would be easy to finish, like the bar trim and adding a few more things to the walls. The other room looked really nice, very cozy.

As far as shoddy, etc..........it is 48 hours, and that's not a lot of time. Although the homeowners do get a lot of help from the show, people you don't see do a lot of the painting, at least thats the story on the TLC website. It isn't advertized to be fine craftsmanship, and the only professionals are the show people, so you get what your neighbor can do.

If I could get on the show, which I can't because I don't know any of my neighbors on my street except one, and I would never have them in my home to redo, I would tell them NO HILDE, if she showed up I would refuse to participate. I wouldn't have her do my room or work on the room she was doing. She is just too awful. The others are OK, Vern is my favorite, I could live with the rest of them.
