Tracking Points

Does anyone else besides me track their points outside of the DVC website? I've always managed our points in an excel spreadsheet (accountant habits die hard) to make sure that I know what points I am using from what year, what I have left etc. It was simple at first - we had one contract. Now we have four. 🤦‍♀️ We have three contracts at Aulani and one at Grand Californian. Thankfully they are all the same use year but my calculations don't match up with what DVC says. I was fine until this year when I started canceling and rebooking due to Covid. Now I don't know why but my calculations are off. Not by a lot but still...

Do I just skip my own tracking? Rebuild my spreadsheet? Forget it and have a glass of wine?

Curious what others do.

I use only the website to keep track of things. I started one years ago but to be honest, I found it more trouble than it was worth.

I do like the new dashboard showing 4 UYs of points since I have 2 UYs and this is a nice addition!

I must confess, I love spreadsheets! I have two contracts with different use years, so spreadsheets are a must for me. I use the website to double check my formulas, but my spreadsheet is my go-to.

Two memberships/UY as well. I track ours in two places. I find the DVC website doesn’t give enough detail about what types of points are in which reservation so you know how many are bankable and how many are expiring. I have an excel spreadsheet (from someone on disboards) that calculates total points for each UY after I type in how many I banked/borrowed and used. I also do a less automated but more detailed Numbers document where I write in each reservation with details of what type of points are in them, and ensure that the totals match up to my excel spreadsheet and the DVC website. This prevents the mistake of using up current points earlier, rather than banked or borrowed first, because they may have been tied up in a different reservation.

We have contracts with 3 resorts so using Excel to keep track of them along with the banking and borrowing has been useful for as long as we have owned. I like to plan a year or two out and looking at my own spreadsheet I can mark points for a future trip before the 11 month happens.

Thanks for the input. I will probably continue to track my own points but I think I need to do it a little differently. And I also need to dig in and figure out why my numbers don't match Disney's. I was fine until I had to start canceling, rebooking, canceling again. It's just a hot mess like everything else in 2020...

I likewise keep track myself for reservations I made, so that I can track which contract they came from and which UY (ie, banked, current, or borrowed). I haven't made a system yet, beyond just keeping a doc that essentially says:

Reservation # - Dates - Resort - Room - Total Points
= XX Points Resort-UY.Contract# + XX Points Resort-UY.Contract# + ....

Example:
Reservation #11111111 - 02/14/2021-02/20-2021 - BRV - Studio - 107
= 86 BRV-2019.1 + 21 BRV-2020.1

This lets me know how many banked (2019) points I'm using, as well as current UY. This matters this year in particular when I have cancelled reservations and want to shift banked points onto the other reservations and freed up borrowed points to return.
