TPing house, 911 worthy?

I can't believe the police have time for this!:lmao:

Thank you! Does the OP live in Mayberry and Barney Fife is one of the cops?LOL.

Cops in my area would never come out for that, the dispatcher *whether 911 or non emergency line would have said, buying TP isn't a crime.

I consider TP'ing to be harmless fun for kids and I have absolutely no problem with it.

Our house was TP'd many times when my kids were in high school, and they went with their friends to TP other friend's houses. No one ever got into trouble. No one ever reported them. It was just kids having fun. Nothing was destroyed or vandalised in the process.

The high school football team's houses (and coaches' houses) all get TP'd every fall during football season.

I can't believe a store employee would bother to call 9-1-1 because some kids were buying toilet paper. Way over the top.

I would much rather have kids out TP'ing houses instead of slashing school bus tires, or breaking into schools and destroying computers, etc. in rooms. Now THAT is worthy of calling the police non-emergency line, still not a true emergency to bother 9-1-1 though.

So you would be okay with teens TP your yard? I can send some kids your way if that the case

Depends on what it means in your part of town. When I grew up it was a negative thing...in the town I now live in -- basically if you are on the Varsity team and it is Homecoming season -- your house gets TP'd. I don't know if they sign permission slips or what but frankly if you DIDN'T get TP'd, it would be a bummer.

The HS kids here white wash the streets one night a year, and soap windows.

Here is whats really ridiculus, it would be one thing for them to show up as the tp'ing was actually happening BUT in this case, someone saw teenagers buying alot of TP and load it into the car and called the police cause she saw teenagers buying TP. As ridiculus as that is the police taking the time to pull the car over and question them about it? serious??

Under what cause did they use to pull them over with?

As far I know buying TP is not against the law and the police had no reason/right to pull someone over for it.

I really hope your towns newspaper has a police blotter, where this will show up at.

I find it hard to believe that any police anywhere would pull someone over due to a report of a large TP purchase. I don't buy it.

Wow I'm glad the caller wasn't in the parking lot of CVS before Christmas when I bought 6 packs of 18 rolls of TP. I thought my purchase was a little over the top myself, but I had coupons and received $20 in free giftcards. I'm sorry officer I couldn't resist the savings, I swear! :rotfl2:

Where do you live? Even in my area if you call the police for something minor no less than 4 police cars, a firetruck and ambulance shows up, and yet I don't think they would have bothered with this. :confused3 Even if the caller called the regular police dispatch line and not 911 I still think they need better things to do with their time. Wasn't there some litter in the parking lot they could have been picking up instead? I mean what if all of these kids had just loaded a case of canned chili in the car first and they were just planning ahead with the TP?

I have to say that I don't know how it is in other areas, but in mine the police could do a better job of getting their non emergency number to residents. The few times I've needed to call the police, but it wasn't an emergency I really had to look hard to find a normal number. It might cut down on the nonsense 911 calls if more people had a nonemergency number handy. 911 should be only used for real emergencies, such as jaywalking, too many birds in the tree above your car and when your neighbor's dog is barking late at night. :thumbsup2

In high school if you weren't TP'd at some point you really felt left out. It's not difficult to clean up, and I still laugh if I drive by and see a house that has been "hit." I think the posters that would be upset by such actions probably lived in an apartment and have TP envy. :rolleyes1

It sounds like a busybody decided to get involved. I think that police have better things to do than chase kids who have bought a lot of tp.

My first thought was that it must have been a Dis'er that called the police about this!!! I personally would never call police if I saw kids buying TP or even if I saw them TPing a neighbors house!

Did you read the OP post? They had all signed permission slips. If the parents of the kids are ok with it then what is the big deal? It is not like they headed out to pick random houses. So I do not see this as kids miss behaving.

In my area the night before homecoming EVERY kid up for homecoming king and queens house is TP'd. My friends husband is a principal at a school and every homecoming eve the kids drive to his house (about 30 minutes away) and TP his house--its expected every year!
