I was checking ride restrictions for our trip in Jun because I wanted to know what rides my nephews would be too small for. I was really surprised to see this as part of the restrictions for Tower of Terror. Is this new? or has it always been there? I ask because last time we were there (Dec 99) my daughter who has CP and uses a wheelchair went on TOT 3 times and her father carried her to the seat all three times. She was 13 at the time. She'll be 17 this time we go.

Wheelchair guests must be able to walk in unassisted and possess full upper-body control.

Jackie will be so disappointed if she can't go on TOT, it was her second favorite ride (Rockin Roller Coaster is her first). I'm really hoping it's just a typo on the WDWIG site. Any help would be appreciated ;) Thanks

On my last trip I went on the ToT. I'm a paraplegic and pretty much dragged myself on and off. This was 5 years ago and they had no problem with it then. I hope they haven't changed the policy.

I actually picked up a guide book for guests with disabilities at MGM last fall and it states:
"Guests with any mobility or queue related assistance needs are recommended to use teh Disney's FASTPASS option at this attraction. Guests choosing not to...should see a host or hostess at the entrance to the attraction for additional boarding options. Guests using ECVs will need to transfer to an available standard wheelchair that will be provided upon request by the host/hostess at the attraction."

Well, I don't see anything in there about walking so I'm hoping it was a typo. Thanks for typing that all out. Jackie will be very happy ;)

The height requirement was there from the beginning, so that's not new. It's 40 inches.
We were there a year ago and DD (who is 17 and can't walk) was lifted onto the ride by us. We just got back from WDW earlier this week for our trip this year. DD did not want to go on, but did go up to the entrance with DH and DD when they got in line. The CM saw her, but didn't say anything, so I'm sure nothing has changed.
Here's a link to the offical Disney site. That page has a link to download the actual Guidebook for Guest with Disabilities as a acrobat reader file onto your computer. That way, you can see what Disney officially has to say about the ride in question (which is what Doombuggy copied for you). They frequently change their pages, so if the link doesn't work, just go to www.disney.com and then search for "disabilities."
