Is it true that there is a certain seat known as a jump seat or a seat that give you more of a butt off the seat feeling. I thought I had read that on these forums somewhere but can't find it now. I would like to avoid that seat next time. I believe I was in it 2 years ago and I can never remember being as terrified like that before. Lol
You could fly right out the open front... if you flew out at the same time that the doors to the outside were open!
When there were bars instead of seatbelts, the center seat in the back row had a seatbelt only. Now all seats have seatbelts. That center seat is probably still a little scarier since you don't have anything in front of you.
If somehow your seatbelt failed as it was dropping, you would probably go up and hit the ceiling. I don't see how you could be propelled forward. I think ToT is over 15 years old and no one has ever got hurt!
On average, only 8 people annually are flung to their deaths from the highest point of ToT due to not being held in securely enough.
Given the number of people who ride that ride every day, those odds seem reasonable
If you are very skinny, though, you might want to embark on a diet of soda and cheeseburgers before you go, just to give the seatbelt something to grab![]()
I find that I feel safer on it with the seatbelts. When it was just the bar, I would frequently leave my seat (due to being smaller than those beside me). Now I am much more strapped in.
*misses the lap bar for a more thrilling ride*
The seat belts are actually more restrictive than the old bars. In the past, if you had someone larger next to you or managed to put your bag in front of you (w/o a CM catching it) you would end up with space between you and the bar and could get some great lift off - actually get your bottom off the seat - on the drops. Unfortunately, the seat belts don't allow for that leeway.
you wouldn't go that high! the most I have ever risen out of my seat is a couple inches. Do realize the force that would be needed to propel you up to the ceiling!not happening on this ride.
...I do try to keep that seatbelt up a bit....usually put something under it so prevent it's tightening all the way, until the door close.
Yeah, were I a single guy at WDW I would ride ToT was much as possible, angling to sit next to any single lady that struck my interest. The likelihood of her grabbing my arm is extremely high and it would be a great icebreaker
I'm not sure the ride really drops faster than gravity so most of the sensation of being lifted up comes from the very initial drop, I think most people push themselves up more than anything![]()
