Tower of Terror changes to GOTG themed attraction

More the reason why both those sites need to be closed down and Internet rumors need to be censored by Capitol Hill. The Subs and Toontown were never going anywhere either.

Did you just suggest the Federal government should censor internet rumors about amusement park rides?

No one knows what really is going on inside Disney as they keep all major projects as top secret as Area 51. But I can assure you that ToT isn't going anywhere.
:rotfl2:

No one knows... top secret like Area 51... but I can ASSURE you...

:rotfl2:

Can I start a rumor that Indy #1 Fan and Indiana Scott are the same person?

"I've stopped reading those sites" = "I was kicked off of those sites". Just wait until that user starts threatening legal action against anyone who quotes rumors. It's been a fantastic meltdown in the past.

Can all of these plans change? OF COURSE. Until the day they start swinging hammers around, anything could happen. And honestly, even after the hammers, as we've seen before.

However, that doesn't change that as of right now, today, this is a green-lit and plotted out project with full plans that has funding and a timeline and a start and end date. I still don't like the idea, but at this point I'm beginning to hope nothing derails it in the next few months, just so certain people can understand that some of us DO have worthwhile information.

So, that's it.

Toontown being flattened, hard ticket Christmas party, Astro Orbitor being [re]moved; the "phony" subs refurb, Tron cycles on the Peoplemover tract, Stark Industries in Innoventions, Tomorrowland becoming Star Wars Land ...

These rumors weren't "wrong" - it's that reality changed.

3 of those were extremely far along in planning, 2 of those were in extended conversations, and 2 of them were never true at all.

This is supposed to be, well, fun. Be interested in possibilities, or don't. But don't be shocked that a multi billion dollar company can sometimes change its mind in late stages of development.

I swear, we just did this with people not believing ROA was being shortened and the RR was being rerouted.

You got that right. The public has no legal right to know anything that isn't hard news like they had no right to know what Wikileaks was publishing. Julian Assange is a criminal who belongs behind bars. I'm planning on writing to Congress asking for a bill that would censor the Internet in some fashion.

I was never a member of either those sites and was never kicked off. And this whole rumor was fabricated just like all those other rumors as well. Nobody seriously knows what's going on inside Disney and nobody has any real connections. Also ToT is never changing at all and I'll be enjoying it not only this Halloween and Christmas time, but even in a decade. Nobody cares about GOTG and I will predict the sequel flops so bad that it not only kills the MCU, but nearly kills superhero movies and destroys Chris Pratt's entire career.

I'm sorry but I love reading those "rumor updates". I'm sure they aren't making it up themselves but have heard it from someone (upper, mid, or lower level?) at Disney. I do not take these as fact. I know many will not happen. I take it as something they are considering or kicking around. I never believe these things are sure to happen, but I like the heads up that these things are being thought about. Some I hope for and some I hope never happen. The ToT rumor is one I hope does not happen. Last week our waiter at Trader Sam's told us he was told that ToT was shutting down in Sept but he didn't know why. He brought this up himself, we didn't ask him. At the very least, it may undergo some sort of refurb in the coming months. We will see.
I just remembered years ago one update said Disney was working on technology that would allow characters and rides to greet you by name or say something about you by a chip in your AP, for example. I thought that sounded interesting but it never happened. Then WDW started coming out with the magic band and it sure sounded like what was "predicted" years ago. It didn't happen at DLR, but now some sort of version might and it shows Disney probably has been considering this for a long time.

Well there's a MC user named Indy Fan 1 with a big ol' SUSPENDED designation who is totally stealing your weird shtick, then. Like, word for word. Although I don't think you've started ranting here about wanting Disney to ban entire families from their parks as punishment for starting rumors.

That's the last I have to say to you, but honestly, thanks for cracking me up on multiple boards. Keep fighting the good fight!

That isn't me. All I have left to say to you is that ToT is NEVER changing, there is no GOTG coming ever, and that is a fact. Thank god for the ignore button.

Also, for anyone clinging to the Halloween press release, the PR guys are usually the last to know changes. Behold part of last year's Halloween release:

"An all-new superhero-themed dance party comes to Tomorrowland Terrace. The party is hosted by Super Goof and features a DJ, dancers, lively music and superhero dance moves. Super Goof is super-excited to host his very first dance party in Tomorrowland and he is bringing to the stage all of his special “BAM!” “POW! and “ZAP!” Be sure to show off your “superhero side,” no matter what costume you choose to wear."

Yeah....that didn't happen either.

Try again.

Yes, I have the second version of the PR sheet, too. Doesn't change what the first one said for multiple weeks.

Edit: And finding both versions of the release isn't even any inside info from a past life, that's just using basic Google skills.

Liar Liar pants on fire. Doesn't change anything and can't wait to watch this whole rumor fall apart. ToT will still be around during Christmas time and in 20 years from now, too. Especially when GOTG 2 flops so bad that it kills superhero films and destroys Chris Pratt's whole career.

This was a very strong rumor at one point, but seems to have cooled off. I think the backlash was pretty strong and even Disney knows it. They do want to get GOTG into the parks, but the new rumor is that Epcot will get it as a new ride. They would probably just replicate the new ride at DCA should they want it there. Hopefully the Tower is safe for good now.
I hope this is the case. I *want* to see GOTG in the parks, but I want it to get its due consideration for an *original* attraction...not shoe-horning it into fitting TOT.

Is Disneylandnews.com an official site? Everyone kept posting that, and I thought they were right in that TOT was scheduled to be open for Halloween time. But then I clicked on the link the other day and saw that it wasn't the Disneyland site. When I went to the Disneyland site and to the Halloween section I noticed it doesn't say anything about TOT or anything else in DCA for that matter. I didn't take it to mean that it was going away, but it also doesn't have the definite staying feeling that I had when I first read that the "press release" said TOT was going to be open for Halloween. I checked because someone in an above post mentioned the Disney Parks Blog did not mention TOT.

I'd agree big time with this. It's almost a slap at comic fans. "Hey, we got a new ride for you Marvel guys (not really, it's an old ride that we thought we could turn into comic candy)." Did Universal turn an old attraction into Harry Potter Land? No, they gave it both barrels and produced something amazing. Slapping a Marvel name on an existing ride is something SixFlags or Paramount would do. Not Disney. At least, I hope.

And for what it's worth, this thread has been supremely entertaining. Like a Jerry Springer show! JerREE JerRee JerRee!
