Tower of Terror, can I get nauseous?

I'm a bit prone to motion sickness so I absolutely do not ride anything that goes backwards, and generally stay off roller coaster type rides.

Tower of Terror seems uh...interesting...can a person get motion sick on this? What exactly does it do? If it goes up and down I'd be doomed!

In a word... YES! Unfortunately if you are motion sickness prone, TOT can definitely do it to you. For some reason I wasn't expecting it as usually it's the spinny rides that get me. I actually didn't FEEL the dropping but apparently my constitution did. That in combination with a HOT, sunny, August morning... :crazy2: If you try it, hope you have better luck than me! It took about 2 hours for "that feeling" to pass...

Ok, just my 2 cents....I did NOT get MOTION sickness, I have FEAR of this ride.

But will let you know, this past year was the 3rd time I did it (for that beating the fear thing). I never got motion sickness like Soarin, Star Tours, Etc...........just fear, but I love it.

Let me ADD I have a fear of elevators.....I like to meet my fears face to face....Maybe I am too scared to notice any possible motion sickness

I do get motion sickness and this ride makes me very sick. The ride is great - but not for me. I can ride roller coasters (and LOVE them) - but motion simulators, this and the tea cups do me in. Oh - and Mission Space is one I avoid completely now. (worth riding once for the experience, but geez it took a long time to recover! :rotfl: )

I don't get really ill on ToT, just that uncomfortable feeling in my head and stomach that makes it hard to enjoy the next couple of hours. I don't like the drop, over and over.

Going up and down multiple times doesn't sound like something I'll be able to put up with! Think I'll just have to pass on it. Would I be able to go up and do the chicken exit once I get to the top?

If you have ridden the Mailaboomer at DL or other rides in various parks that take you up on a tower and drop you, that is what ToT is like. The special effects before the drop is what is so cool.

This is the same way I feel. I should have known-It is the same feeling I get on swings-don't like them either.

Done ToT once--never again

The chicken exit is before you get into the elevator.

Nauseous? Not to me! (Sorry, I love that joke.)

Yea, it goes up and down. And it does both quickly.

Good luck!

I get motion sick on rides that spin (includin Carousels and Ferris weels), coasters and simulators. ToT is something I can ride and sometimes pretty much be okay and sometimes be a bick sick sfterwards but I recover fairly quickly. definately not something I can do two times in a row or do something else with lots of movement afterward, Though I think the Anaheim version of ToT is a lesser version of the ride for some reason the drops are smoother and I get much less sick on that one!

It is nearly impossible to get sick off of tower of terror. It is NOT a roller coaster and the only motion is vertical and I have not known anyone to get sick or even Nautious off of it. Go ahead and do it! It is an amazing attraction and definetely worth it! :earsboy:

I get really sick on it - I used to do fine on the single drop version - but now that it's multiple drops, I get sick as a dog on it. The quick, multiple ups & downs do me in completely. Wish I didn't!!! :earsboy:

Last year a woman did not buckle in her kid and he hit the top of the box and died. be careful.

I had my lap belt on--but probably not tight enough(I thought it was) There were a couple of drops I know I was not touching the seat.

This happens every single time I have rode it. I mean that is only 3 times and I won't do it anymore but that's the scary part, not actually touching bottom with your bottom. It really is like falling.

where did you see this? I have not heard it nor can I verify by googling it - a 16 year old child did suffer cardiac arrest on this ride, but it was not the result of hitting the top and as far as I know, she did not die. (although she was in critical condition - this is of course every parents nightmare)
