Tower of Terror 10 Miler 2014

For me, it looks like they got my ToT corral placement right based on the proof of time I submitted. But I seem to be the exception! On the TeamRunDisney facebook page, someone posted a screenshot of an email reply from Disney regarding the screwy corral placements. Here is what runDisney said: "Thank you for contacting us. We had been aware prior to the waiver release that there had been an issue in the bib assignment process with a handful of bibs. It has been corrected. All three of you will have the correct assignment reflected on your bib based on the proof of time you had provided. We apologize for the confusion in communication, and we look forward to seeing you soon." Anyway, I don't know if this "correction" applies to just this particular individual's group, or everyone. I'd say if you have a legitimate concern about your corral placement, contact runDisney and see what they say! I don't know any more about it ... I'm just relaying what I saw on facebook. Regardless I am excited for the race weekend! I'm totally not ready for the running part yet (I'm behind on my training for this AND for the goofy... yikes) but I have every other aspect of my Disney trip planned!

I have never participated in a race this large. To others that have participated in this or other disney race. Any advice/ideas on how to get to the front of my corral? (the last corral)
We are staying at Boardwalk so I am walking over to the race start.

Get to the corrals early and kind of camp out there if that is your plan.

We got that email after contacting them yesterday to see what was up. It sounds like they started printing the bibs before the July 1st cut off for PoT.

I contacted them today and was told that I couldn't update my proof of time....except I was just trying to get the correct corral for the time I submitted with my registration. Tips on who exactly to email and what to say? I was none too pleased with the "blow off" canned response I got from them.

Thanks. I emailed them back explaining that I had submitted it on time and my corral didn't reflect that...and implied I was disappointed in their system. I should have mentioned my sister submitted an identical time and got the corral above me...

Quick question: Has anyone else tried to follow the links in the runDisney final race instructions email sent out yesterday? The igiftbag link doesn't load anything for me, just an error with the Tower of Terror logo and the New Balance virtual queue directed me to the Disneyland half marathon page. I am just wondering if I happen to the be the only one having issues or if someone else on here has encountered the same. Thanks!!

The igiftbag link didn't work for me either. I didn't get that anyway. I thought we were just given the giftbag, why do we need a link? Do we get to customize it or something?

Trying hard not to talk myself out of this, I know I can do this, right! (?) Looking to encourage others as well as myself. I know I will be last, last but the main thing is I want to finish. Any advice.

DO NOT stop! I did my first 5K at 59 last year, and did it on Disney Member Cruise at Castaway Cay. It was hot, humid and I finished. I have since done 12 more 5Ks. I am not last, but far from first. You won't be last, and if you are, SO WHAT? I plan on stopping and getting pix if there are any, and just having a nice run. YOU should just plan on doing it. I am proud of you for going for it! See you there.

The virtual iGiftbag is basically coupons to use at the expo. It is not an actual gift bag.
You might be thinking of the bag you'll get at the expo with your shirt, race program, bib and some other little stuff. If you need to check a bag at the race, DO NOT THROW THIS CLEAR BAG AWAY! It's the only bag they will accept for bag check at the race.

I'd be happy to be your buddy on this if you still need one. I am running the 10-miler also so plan to take it easy for the 5K They don't really enforce the time limits too strictly for the 5K, so even walking there may even be time for a character stop or 2

However, after a voice mail and email, I got a response saying they would make the corral change at the expo. I'm not the fastest runner to begin with and wanted to stop for a few characters so making the jump from J to D is helpful. I'm still going to try and get in the front of my corral.

As for the rest of the trip, I have received my Magic Band and Magical Express booklet! Bought my new set of luggage last night and the room is paid off! I still have to finish my costume. I have never attempted anything with fabric so this should be interesting... lol.

I am so pumped! 22 Days until the magic begins!

6 corrals is a lot. Like I said it is the people that are upset over 1 or 2 corrals that I don't get.

I am upset over one corral...and I realize that it's a little but absurd, I do. But I did not submit some of my faster times, instead opting to submit the same time as my sister so we could run together. Now I've been placed in the corral behind her (and behind my other friend who did not submit a proof of time at all) when in reality I am the fastest of the three of us.
I am the most upset that when I contacted rundisney about it, they essentially told me that it was my fault because of the estimated finish time that I chose...even though my sister and my friend submitted the exact same estimated finish time and got in an earlier corral. I do not like when a company that charges this much money, tells me that their mistakes are my fault.
I feel like their corral system has worked well in the past, but now I have no idea how to prevent this from happening at future races and I do not like that.

Glad yours got corrected! Did you send a second email? I am trying to figure out the best course of action. I am also wondering if they won't correct mine because it is only off by one corral (when others have much larger mistakes)....which again, I can live with, if they would explain that!

Yes I sent another email- to the same address. Stating again that I submitted my POT before July 1st and wanted it resolved. The next email had a totally different tone. Ask again...can't hurt. It seems like they now understand we noticed how they messed up- although I am sure they won't make changes without request.

I have to admit I'm the one who goofed here. Apparently when I registered, I included my previous ToT time and as the month progressed, I inadvertently forgot to resubmit my improved Proof of Time before July from where I came in much earlier than my ToT '13 time. Totally my fault! In all the daily rigors of life, kids, etc I totally forgot!

Lesson learned: I have a pop up reminder for me to make sure I send in the updated PoT for my next RunDisney race in 2015!
