Tower of Terror 10 Miler 2014

I think Coronado is not a host resort for this race. If you'll have a car you can park at Wide World of Sports and take a bus from there. Or you can take a taxi to there. The buses start at 7pm. According to the information on the Run Disney website, "Parking is free at ESPN Wide World of Sports for participants and spectators. All participants must board shuttles from ESPN Wide World of Sports to Disney's Hollywood Studios® no later than 8:00 p.m. in order to make it to their corrals by 9:15 p.m." If you don't have a car and don't want to take a taxi, maybe take a bus to the Magic Kingdom and then go to a host resort (either the Polynesian or the Wilderness Lodge) and take the shuttle to the race start from there.

Being at a no host resort your best bet is to taxi to WWS and take the bus from there. You can't taxi to Hollywood studios unfortunately. Also you could taxi to any of the Epcot area resorts and just walk. So either Boardwalk, beach club, yacht club, swan or dolphin.

Side note - will wearing my medal the next day at EP be...weird??

I wore my medal for four days after and I was not alone. Actually by the fourth day I was feeling silly, but brought it because we were going to DHS and I wanted it on TOT. I forgot to take it off after, and while sitting waiting for DH and DS to be done with RnR another runner walked by. He had his medal on and told me he was feeling silly and was going to take it off and then he saw me. We made a pact to keep them on that day. So I did.

Nope! And you'll see plenty of others, including me, doing the same! It's a grand Disney tradition to wear your medal/s around the parks after the race. :cool1:

AGREED it is a grand Disney tradition to wear your medals! I usually wear mine the entire time I'm at Disney. I mean, people are wearing silly mouse-ear hats, lanyards covered in pins, and other fun Disney stuff... in my opinion the medals are tame in comparison! And they look cool, and people are envious. :) Nothing to feel silly about. :thumbsup2

I am going to do the Goofy this coming January. The other thing to plan for is the anniversary years as they do special medals. This year is the 10th for Goofy. A nice spinner medal that was like the 2013 20th Mickey (full).

Now I am planning to do the Dopey in 2018 as that year will be the 5th year for the Dopey and 25th for the Mickey. :thumbsup2 Double up on the bling.

This is my plan too! I did the marathon in 2013 for the 20th anniversary, I'm doing the Goofy in Jan. for the 10th anniversary, and if I'm able, I'll do Dopey in 2018 for the 5th.

Does anyone plan to just hang out at Hollywood until closing then move to the starting area? Can that be done? The family is eating at MM at 5:30 so not sure about going back to hotel etc.

Sorry, but WOOOHOOOO!!!!!

No Stitch!! Maleficent as the Dragon!!

I am so happy with this. Hopefully they have a jacket.

Is that shirt the one that comes free with our registration, or is that a separate one that we can purchase? I really like it, I hope it's the one that comes with registration!
And YES! I agree! I am so happy Stitch is not on everything this year!!!

I'm not sure if it can be done--at the very least, if they make you move out of the HS area, you can go hang out in the Boardwalk area for a while before the corrals/staging area opens up.

I've always wondered about that. I don't see why not - they'll clear the park, so you'd have to exit, anyway. Then, instead of boarding a bus or tram, you'd walk to the parking lots where the staging will take place. Other than involving a bit of a hike, I don't see why it couldn't be done...

Good question! They tweeted "merchandise" which sounds like it would be for sale, but it sure looks like a participant shirt...

I'm not sure if there are any last minute set up things that happen that they would prefer runners and guests don't see. The park closes at 6pm that day an buses don't start until 7pm so I bet while they may not outright ban this they may frown upon it.

I am not sure if I absolutely LOVE this, just because Maleficent doesn't scream a tie in to TOT. I will think about it for awhile. lol. It is much better than stitch though, hands down.

Leaving work soon for a 5 mile run, before 8 on Saturday. I can't believe it is a week away now!

They may or may not let you into the starting area then, but I would think you should be able to hang around somewhere between there and Boardwalk until they open things up as others have mentioned.

Not sure what the rest of your day plans might be, but if it includes an afternoon of Hollywood Studios before that, it sounds like an incredibly long day before having to wait 3 hours to run 10 miles. . . and leave you with any energy to enjoy the after party. :faint:

I'm super excited about this merch as I'm dressing as Maleficent for the race! I'm not even a pin person and I like the pin. I hope they don't sell out of what I want before Saturday morning.

Luckily my 5 miles went well :cool1:. But it got me thinking...I usually run with sunglasses because we have the most annoying little gnat things around here being right on the lake. After you take one to the eye, you know, you learn.

I never have issues with bugs at Disney - but I also don't usually stroll down the highway. For those that have ran TOT before, is this an issue at all?

Never noticed bugs on my runs in Florida but I do out on bug spray for the mosquitoes.

If you did not have that ADR I would say as others did that they may not let you into the area then. But since you aren't going to MM until 5:30, if you take an hour and a half to be seated and eat, you would probably be arriving with the first busses. So I think you would be ok! They won't want you there all night obviously due to the race, but you should be at the resto until 6:30 easily + the walk out of the park and over to the race area.

Saturday, October 4 – Sunday, October 5
• Transportation begins at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday and concludes at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday
• 10-Miler participants must board buses no later than 8:00 p.m. in order to make it to their corrals by 9:15 p.m.

It's exciting to think a week from now, I'll be in the air headed to WDW for the ToT 10 miler!!
It'll be alittle rough getting up for breakfast and the expo but other the MNSSHP on Friday we don't have anything else planned.

If the park closes at 6pm just hang out in the gift shop until 6:30-6:45,walk out of the park and go sit in a bench for 15-20 minutes,by that time you should be able to or be close to getting into the staging area.Since you'll be there for 2 hours plus just be prepared to go through all the DJ party favorites(Cha Cha slide,Time Warp,YMCA,Chicken dance etc...)
