Tower of Terror 10 Miler 2014

Yeah, I really like both the I Did It shirt and the jacket. I'm going to have to decide between the two since I don't think I can justify both to the wallet!

Love the "I Did It!" shirt!

Can't wait to get there on Friday!! Going to be very hard to concentrate at work this week.

:sunny:

I told myself I was not going to get a jacket this year. And then they throw glow in the dark in the mix. :scratchin The fact that I am even thinking about this, means my wallet is screwed.

However, so is my knee. A few hours after my run on Saturday I walked to my car (I am in a 3rd floor walk up) and noticed I had some issues. Thanks IT band. Following Galloway's advice and resting 3-5 days (or probably all week), foam rolling, ibuprofen, vitamin c, lidocaine patches, the works. I have compression leggings and my KT tape ready for Saturday and planning on taking it slower obviously. And accepting that Sunday will be not a lot of fun, though walking is fine for me now, just stairs that are giving me grief. I don't usually have any problems with this so I'm glad it at least happened when I have a week to rest it and hope for the best.

Heading out Friday VERY early. About 50/50 nervous/excited!

Hoping you have a full recovery by Saturday.

I'm doing my 6 miles on Tuesday and then maybe one on Thursday but taking the rest of the week easy. 6 was suppose to be on Sat or Sun this past weekend but the blergh got me. Must say I can't wait for my tread mill to come in next week.

Is the wine colored one the runners race shirt?

It almost looks like the wine colored one is the men's shirt, and the white one is the women's - given one's a crew neck and the other is a V.

Guess we'll see Friday, unless someone asks on the blog and Steve answers.

I have a feeling there's going to be a themed reason for the fireball at the cloverleaf this year lol. There be dragons!

Don't you mean really hot? :rotfl2:

Ha ha... good point :) Weird question. I've heard multiple people say try to get to the front of your corral. Do you just do that by going over early? Is there a certain side or place you need to go to do that? I wasn't sure if it would be obvious where the front is.

It will be pretty obvious where the front is. Best to get there early if you are in a back corral as lots of people will be trying to get to the front.

Thanks for the help :) I figured it would be clear but just wanted to make sure. I think I'm in the second to last corral and am definitely planning on going early.

I hated that fire pit last year. Seriously let's put fire on the hottest race of the year.

Same feelings.

But if they have a dragon there; an actual reason for it, then it would make it better IF they insist on having it again.

Get there early.

I was solo for last year's TOT and I'm not good in the dark so I was really confused. And a bit lonely. Sniffle. I totally messed up and waited way too long to use the portapotties. Got stuck in a long long line. Hint: if they have them set up in a giant L shape as they did last year, go to the junction of the long and short lines of the L. No one really realizes they are in there, and the lines end up shorter! If you're stuck in a long line, look elsewhere! Move! (I didn't, and...)

I missed my corral and one or two after it. It was AWFUL. So not only was I behind where I should have been, but my family had no clue where I was for ages. It wasn't the best thing ever.

Get there early, use the potties early (just get in the line, LOL, by the time you reach the front you'll probably need it), get into the corral. If you have to "go" later you can always leave the corral and use them then fight your way back.

Thanks, this makes a lot of sense. I clicked the link in your signature and went back to read your description of last year's ToT race. It really helped a lot! Things like that... dark, confusion, long lines, missing corrals, etc. are the types of things I would worry about too. Definitely planning to get there early. I'm staying at the Swan so I plan to leave around 7 to walk over. Are corrals open right away or do they open up one at a time throughout the evening?

I had myself convinced I wouldn't buy anything as far as merchandise goes but I kinda like the shirt, the jacket, and the hat. Now what? :)

I'm getting excited to go but I'm nervous about the heat and humidity.

I did 4.3 miles yesterday and 5.5 today. I'll take tomorrow off and then probably 6-7 on Wednesday. I still need to keep my mileage up a little because I have a marathon on the 19th.

Picked up some final things for the trip at Target today. Will pack on Wednesday. I can't believe it's finally here. Hopefully I will find someone to talk to in my corral while we wait to start. :thumbsup2

Sadly, I have no idea.

Did I mention I'm also short, so I couldn't see over people?

The best and cutest little bitty souvenir I've found is good if you're into Vinylmation or some sort of similar small figurine. It's a teeny tiny little medal for the race. $2 with tax. I now have TOT, WDW Half (that was pretty generic though) and Disneyland Half. All on my cute see-through pink Vinylation Mickey figure. That mickey dudette really gets around to disney runs!

Beware because the expo has things to buy that aren't necessarily Disney themed, but can still be nice. Like Zensah and CEP compression-wear. Sparkle Skirts (not my fave but MANY people love them). etc. Either go with NO money or go with a solid budget. :)
