Stupid question, I know!

Am I right in thinking that we will not need to take any towels with us when we go? As you've obviously guessed, this is our first trip to Orlando........we are used to holiday camps in the UK where you have to take your own towels for the chalet, another for swimming, the beach etc. Times that by 5 and they take up a whole suitcase!!!LOL

Short answer: "No"

Longer answer: If you'll be staying in a villa there should be plenty of towels for the maximum occupancy of the villa for both bathing and swimming.

If you'll be in a hotel you'll have towels provided for the room, but you may be asked not to use those for the pool, and they may have towels available at the poolside for that purpose. You can usually ask the front desk for more towels if you need them.

If you plan to visit the water parks (the Disney ones, anyway - don't know about the others) you can rent towels there for a fairly nominal sum (maybe $1 each).

If you venture further afield and take a trip to the coast, you'd be expected to take your own towels along for the beach.

And, if after all that you find you do need some, you'll have no trouble picking them up whilst you're there! Park-bought ones won't be cheap, but somewhere like Walmart will sell them for next to nothing ;)

on our 1st trip the villa only had hand sizes towels to use so i was glad i'd packed bigger ones and beach towels , but our 2nd trip found us with a villa packed to eyeballs with towels to use although as Hilary says there was a stipulation not to tke them out of the villla ( how they would know i dont know!!)

obviously depends on the villa owner what you get!

both times we've been to WDW we stayed off site in a villa.

There's always been enough towels for showers & the pool but we've also taken our own beach towels. We use these when we go to the Disney water parks. It means we take a dry towel out with us not one that's been used that morning in the pool.
/also swimming gear can be left in the car.

I think it's the Yorkshire in me that won't pay a $ to rent when I can bring my own. Tight I know!!!!!!!

We also found having our own towels out made it much easier for the kids to find our sunbeds at the water park.

Being in a villa meant I've always washed & dried our towels before we came home, ;lovely to take clean not sandy towels out of the cases.

Also being a Tyke, I would not pay for rental. Its bad enough having to pay for locker rental. I even take back my refillable drinks mug to save $4 in Blizzard beach.
If you would like new towels go to Disney outlet shop in Belz mall. Last year they had about 6 different designs for $10 each. Universal outlet shop if they have them in are usually 50% of sale prices. Treat yourself to a new one you will probably find somewhere cheaper than this if you look.

We always stay in a villa these days, I believe our next trip in April there are beach towels available.
However, we always take a couple of our own, as 'disney owl' says, it can sometimes be best to have your own if you are going to a theme park or maybe even the beach.

Certainly if there is room in the suitcases I would take a couple.
I do not see the point of buying any in Florida when you already have them at home?

just take old,but servicable towels that you dont mind throwing away or leaving behind.
you get more room in the cases when packing to come home for pressies and souveniers!!!!

i washed and dried our old ones in the villa and put them with the towels provided by the owners for someone else to use aound the pool. from the eclectic collection in the cupboard ours were not out place!!

that way you can keep your better ones for the water parks etc. mustn't let the side down being seen out with old towels !!!LOL!

We don't pack them but once we're there, if we find we need any, we just buy a couple of (very) cheap ones.

There are plenty of towels in the villas for showering etc. We used to give ours a quick wash and dry in the washer/dryer every other day. However, i would take beach towels, but if you decide not to, you can always buy souvenir ones at the water parks or even at 'Bargain World' located next to most Ponderosa restaurants.
