Towel animals??

We got one (after staying about 5 times) as a kind of apology for something that went wrong - don't even remember what it was. It had a sad face. That was about 3 years ago and I still have it. Only time I've ever taken a washcloth from a hotel! :rolleyes1

Been to WDW several times in different resorts and never once had towel animals left for us. I have seen several of them in windows in different resorts (meaning folks were left towel surprises multiple times during their stays). Me - I'd use the towel or washcloth for their intended purposes. My wife, on the other hand, would practically "bronze" them. Just a silly way for mousekeeping to get tips IMHO.

We got them everyday during our last trip. I do tip mousekeeping every day too. $4 a day. I had 4 people in my room.

I was attacked by a pack of towel animals in 94,
still have horrible dreams about it

They were not rabid, thank goodness!!!

just heavily starched

But, I have to tell you..if I got a note like that, I wouldn't be leaving Nora a tip...well, maybe a note that said...'Seabiscuit in the 4th race' but that's about it. I will not be told to tip by a housekeeper, bus driver, or bellperson.

Tip #2 Don't eat yellow snow.

We got towel animals a couple of days when we stayed at ASMo. Didn't get any at CSR. We did leave some at CSR, though. DH likes to make them and he gets a kick out of leaving them for housekeeping .

I don't think tipping has anything to do with it because we always tip daily and I think we tip pretty well.

IMO..if you have to ask for a towel animal...its not magic, thats what is intended not expected. :sad2:

Personally i do not care if i get a towel animal..i think they are a little creepy. I would rather have great mousekeeping service and no towel animal than mediocre mousekeeping and a towel animal.;) And to add we ALWAYS tip our mousekeeper!

oh and by the way there is probably a gazillion threads about towel animals..just do a search!:goodvibes

I think it just depends on your housekeeper. When at CSR last April, we noticed that as we walking past certain flloors/areas, all of the windows had towel animals in them and were obviously staged by the housekeeper. You know..where the Towel animal is reading the Disney planning guide, etc...all cute little games some housekeepers will play with your items.

In our section, we got nothing....no games, no animals, nada. I tried leaving a large tip one day (I think $10) with a nice note..not asking for anything...just a well wish. Not so much as a thank you was left...nada.

Then, 4 months later we returned for free dining - and stayed at ASMu. Wow - towel animals like crazy - really good ones with the stickers on them and bows, etc...and our room was staged each day. It was soooo fun! We came back to the room one day and met our housekeeper, who was still cleaning. She was delightful! I left a jumbo tip for her - just because she was so sweet and did such a nice job of making our stay magical. She wrote us nice notes - and the day before we were to depart, she wrote a note asking God to bless us and hoped we would return. I saved that note.

I know she would have kept up the animals, even without the tip. She just took pride and joy in what she did each day.

All that at a Value!

Tipping for favors from the housekeeprs is iffy anyway- since the staff can change without you knowing. Our special housekeeper told us one day that she would be off for the next 2 days. On those days, we did not get anything special...but the room was cleaned just fine.

If you receive extra special service and want to give your housekeeper a special tip or gift, I would make sure they will be the one to clean your room on the day you leave it - or I would give it to them personally. I wouldn't chance that you might leave it and someone new comes to clean your room that day and only that day.

Now you all have me thinking about my upcoming visit. I think I will run out and buy some trinkets from my hometown to take down with me...as gifts for any special housekeepers I come across. Maybe cash for them...but trinkets for any children in their families.

We've gotten towel animals on every trip: All Star Sports, Beach Club, Animal Kingdom (3 times), Contemporary (2 times). Animal Kingdom Lodge always left more than one, and always arranged our plushies in cute ways.

Ask for turn-down service, anyone can ask and receive, you don't have to be Club Level. That's when we had the most elaborate attention by mousekeeping.

I know some people say it's silly to want/ask for towel animals, and be disappointed when they don't get it. But it's part of the Disney fun, and I always hope to get them!
