We leave on Wednesday for WDW. We will be arriving in Orlando (if all goes according to plan) at 2:30 pm. We are staying at All Star Movices.

I thought it would be nice if on our first night we did a tour of some of the resorts to see the decorations, and maybe a couple of others if time allows, possibly finishing up at DTD for a later dinner.

I am posting this on the Transportation board because we will not have a rental car and I am wondering what would be the best way to do this? I know the GF is a must but where else would you go if you were using Disney transportation and wanted to see some of the must do decorations? DTD for dinner is not a must, we can go another time in the week but I figured it would be a good ending point where we can take a bus from a resort to DTD and then back to our resort?

We did an afternoon of touring the decorated resorts last week and ended up at Raglan Road in DTD for dinner that evening. Our tour was a little different than your's will be because we had a car but you could easily do the same with Disney transportation. We spent the most time at the Wilderness Lodge then drove over to the Polynesian parking lot and visited the monorail hotels (we didn't stop at the Contemporary because we'd not been particularly impressed with the decorations there in previous years). Then we drove over to Board Walk and saw the decorations at Board Walk Inn, Yacht Club and Beach Club before heading to Raglan Road.
For your trip, I'd go to TTC to visit Wilderness Lodge and the monorail resorts, then catch a bus to Board Walk and decide whether to have dinner at a DTD restaurant or just stay there and go to one of the Board Walk restaurants.

My suggestion:

  1. Bus to MK
  2. Boat to Poly
  3. Monorail or walk to GF (not sure whether the walking trail is open; there is construction between the 2 resorts)
  4. Monorail to CR
  5. Boat to WL
  6. Boat or bus to MK
  7. Bus to BW (you could walk or hop the boat to the YC & BC, if you like)
  8. Bus to DTD
I think I heard the AKL also has some nice decorations. If DHS is open late, you could walk or boat there from BW/YC/BC, and then bus to AKL.

I do like the idea of visiting the AKL if time allows.

We might skip out on the Poly for that day since most people seem to say the decorations are not the most extravagant and we will likely go to Captain Cooks for a meal at some point.

Thank you both for the game plans! You answered what my main question was: where to fit the YC/BC/BW in so this is very helpful.

I downloaded the Laughing Place Transportation app to my phone so hopefully if things get nuts I will be able to use that to get us out of any confusing situations lol.

Definitely make time for AKL and CSR (the other mods don't have very impressive decordations). Also try to get over to the campground to see the campers' decorations-some go all out!
