Tour Guide Mike

This sucks.. Not only is the site still down, but people are posing that the info on TGM is out of date. Great. Grrrrr. :(

I was so hoping TGM would make planning our trip so much easier.

IMHO - Your $20 was well spent. I used TGM for the first time last Sept. and I really thought his info was very helpful - esp. his best parks picks (dead on imo) and sample touring plans. TGM DID make our trip planning easier. Hopefully you'll feel the same (I'd be willing to bet that you will). :thumbsup2

Just because TGM isn't for me - doesn't mean it's not going to be a big help to you :)

I just haven't found anything 'new' or 'mindblowing' yet that has altered any of the plans I'd already made. So far I've drawn up my itinerary based on the same criteria that TGM uses so at least i have confirmation that I've made the right choices if nothing else :surfweb:

have fun & happy planning :thumbsup2

I'm a diehard TGMer, but I've found very few things that aren't current on his site. And the few things that are, aren't important (& if you are a Disney freak like me, you soon figure them out...especially with the TGM forums!) I LOVE TGM....our June 2004 trip we didn't wait in any lines longer than 10 minutes...that is amazing for summertime!! I also love how almost every bit of info I need for an awesome trip is centrally located! I do use Passporter (I love their maps!) & have found good info here.....I just love how TGM organizes & how I can get up-to-the-minute info!! Hope his site comes back up soon....for both of us!! ;o)

Thanks for the reassurance. I am totally lost on what all to do. Everything is quite overwhelming.

Now if the site would come back up!!!

Glad to know I am not the only one. I was starting to think my comany's IT group was onto me. Guess I actually have to do some work now.

This is the same thing I was thinking. I also got on the boards with the intention of asking if the sight was down. I almost have my touring plans done. I'm ready for my least crowded days. I only have 206 days to get this right.:scared:

AHHH!!!

I used TGM on my Oct 03 trip and loved it...had decided NOT to do it this time and just use my DIS knowledge (plus, it's just DH and I so our ADRs are the only schedule we need to stick to), but then decided this morning to get it...and it's DOWN!!

Oh...THE IRONY!!!!!!
:lmao:

Hey, Ken! Have you heard anything new???? I think I just may break the refresh button on my computer!! LOL!! :surfweb:

Thanks for keeping us updated!

I'm trying TGM out for our June trip for the first time, and so far I've enjoyed the planning and the information I've found there. I have to say, though, that I have been a little surprised that some things -- some important things -- aren't updated more quickly. For example, there's still no Nemo ride on the Epcot sample tour -- how long has that ride been operating? Also, I'm going in June, and as of a few days ago, Mike's information still was going off the guess that Star Wars weekends will be late May/beginning of June -- in fact, there's a part where Mike talks about why he thinks that the "rumor" that Star Wars weekends will be all in June will never happen. As we on the DIS know, those dates have been posted for a while, and I need Mike to update his information so I know how things will affect my weekend plans. That's what I pay him for. ;)

I'm not saying I haven't found Mike worthwhile, but I have to say that I've found the Unofficial Guide's site is updated much more quickly.

Just subscribing. Hoping he's coming back soon. I'm sure Mike is going nutso, trying to get it back.

I may also be with the minority here... but I've reading a lot of the articles in TGM's site and, so far, I haven't learned anything that I didn't learn before on these forums. I'm also ticked about the number of outdated items in TGM's web site... I know 20$ is nothing compared to what we're spending for the whole trip, but so far I find it's been a waste of money. On the other hand, touringplans .com has been an awesome complement to the UG book. Just my 2 cents... I'm sure many people will benefit from the incredible amount of info in TGM's site... I'm just not one of them :)

Regardless if you love or hate TGM, for a service that requires a paid subcription it's pretty poor customer service on TGMs part. An email at least could have been sent either giving those a chance in advance to print any information they may need if this was "scheduled" down time. If it wasn't scheduled, the fact being how long it's been down now, an email should have been sent updating the status and the projected time frame it will be up again.

I feel very badly for those that leave during this time and needed the last minute information to make their planning complete. :sad2:

Alas! I am afraind that it's my fault that TGM is down :sad1: You see, I signed up yesterday afternoon just about the time the whole thing went kerfloooey. C'mon TGM! popcorn::

We used TGM last year for our first trip to WDW, that we planned in less than 2 months, so all the one stop shopping for information was incredibly helpful to me. I went to WDW knowing exaclty where to go and how to tour and we never waited more than 10 minutes in lines, except for our MGM day, when I didn't use TGM info (simply ran out of time to plan this day properly). So I really recommend TGM, especially for newbies to WDW. I have recommended TGM to people I know going to WDW and they also come back from WDW having really enjoyed using the TGM information. I can see how it may not be as informative for seasoned park veterans or for people who enjoy using a variety of different resources before their trip, but I found it wonderful as a single souce of info last year and am using it again this year, although I feel I already know a lot of the info provided.

When the site is back up request a refund of your membership, he will gladly do that for you.

I had many trips under my belt, used this site along with about three others and had about 5 different books, UG included but I decided to join when we did our first summer trip. I was concerned about crowds because we had always visited in September and October. It was the best money that I spent on that trip. I did find a few tips that I didn't know about and my thinking changed on how to tour the parks and on what days. The best day charts alone along with his when's and why's is worth the money I spent alone. Friends on the forums are wonderful too.

And as I said earlier he provides a money back guarantee if you are not satisfied, all you have to do is ask. So sebamt since you have learned nothing from the site you can get your money back. And please stick with UG and Touringplans, both just wonderful tools for them that know!:rolleyes2 :rolleyes2 :rolleyes2
