Tour Guide Mike vs Unofficial Guide?

I have used both Tour Guide Mike's recommendations, as well as the Unofficial guide, when creating "touring plans".

Sometimes these sources disagree. When they do, I generally go with the "Unofficial Guide"...but...

Has anyone ever experimented to see which touring plans actually save more time?

I am using touring plans for the first time this time, but I used TGM in 2003 and 2008 with 100% accuracy.

We had to go to a 'red' park in 2008 and it actually did make an impact - wait times were HUGE in comparison.

Everywhere we went, we were told that the 'day before' was a zoo, and that day was relatively quiet. (We were waiting like 5- 10 min for space mountain at MK ...spent most of the time just walking through the queue...and the gentleman in front of us said they were at the same park yesterday and Space mountain was a 50 minute wait at the same time the day before.)

We also signed up for TGM this time and found the sites to be giving very similar info! I had seen that TGM's site was not maintained as much as touring plans, and considering both had similar suggestions - I stopped looking at TGM.

Touring Plans from Unofficial Guide have always worked like a charm for us.

TourGuide Mike is VERY outdated. We used that site before but it is no longer a good source of current info and hasn't been for a few years now. Easywdw or Touringplans are a sure thing IMHO:goodvibes:goodvibes

TourGuide Mike was outdated even when it was in full swing. His customer service was abysmal and the site info usually lagged behind all the free info available on the internet. Like PP said, I can't believe he has the audacity to take people's money for what was a substandard product to being with and which hasn't been updated in a very long time.

Touring Plans has a lot of great info for a cost. EasyWDW is a close second for free. Go with one of those.

Another vote for easywdw and touring plans...we used TGM in the past, but also found it out of date lately.

Neither. easywdw.com is better than both.

TGM is terribly out of date and Touring Plans tends to let their computer algorithms and insistence that every park never go 4 days without a most recommended rating run roughshod over both common sense and reality.

I agree 1000 %!!! You can get great info on the The Dis for the info he offers. easyWDW is my fav!

I used to be a huge supporter of TGM. Note the used to be. From what I understand is that he had some family issues (his sister passed) and then he had his own medical issues. When that happened he handed over the site to someone else (no idea who) and they let it get to the horrible point it is today. It is sad because the community, tips, and tricks there were wonderful. Now? I wouldn't use them if they were free.

Now I am a huge fan of EasyWDW. I DO like Touring Plans and have the Unofficial Guide (and get a new one every year), but EasyWDW has made a huge impression on me. I love Josh! His posts are so informative and entertaining. Plus, it is free! He gives an amazing service and doesn't charge.
