What do you think, is it scary? If so, what makes it scary? My children love bugs, animals etc... but DS has SPD and sudden loud noises really scare him.

What do you think,

1. is it scary? If so, what makes it scary? My children love bugs, animals etc... but

2. DS has SPD and sudden loud noises really scare him.

1. During many performances you experience some kids crying uncontrollably. due to fright.

2. In that case, ITtBaB is not a good choice for him.

I recommend that a parent experience the show alone first, and determine if it is
appropriate for the rest of the family.

(We love the show, but it can be quite overwhelming for some small guests.)

Sudden loud noises, sudden darkness, suddenly get poked in the back in the dark. Angry wasps. Strobe lights. Pretty much everything they could think of to make it scary. My family got up and ran for the door.

At one point the room goes all dark and very large spiders drop down from the ceiling. That is the point when a lot of parent rush their kids out of the theater.

We skipped it last trip & will again. One DS has a fear of insects (he sees one & thinks it's going to crawl all over him).

My MIL said 'oooh let's go do that!' Thank goodness I'd researched different rides or we'd still be dealing with nightmares.

My kids have a WDW map app on their ipads & love to click on the attractions. When they asked me to go on It's tough to be a bug next trip I explained what it was & DS replied No, no I don't think I want to do that.

I'd personally skip it if you have a sensory sensitive kid.

Every time we've been there are always kids that get scared and parents getting up and rushing them out of the theater.

As a teenager, I went on it in 1998 when it first open. I thought it was really cool. The bugs crawl under you butt, you get stung in the back by a wasp, I even remember getting sprayed with water and the stink bug sprays and it is really smelly. It is very loud, lots of strobe lights, and the bad guy (Hopper??) jumps up (like a grasshopper would) in various spots. I think we are going to skip it with my 8 & 5 year old when we go because I think it would be too much for younger kids.

We made the mistake of doing this when my kids were 2 and 4. In fact, it was our first thing and it ruined our whole trip. They refused to go on anything that was "inside" for the whole trip, which eliminated a lot! If your child has any kind of issues with load noises I would avoid it. Not worth the risk!

. You can check out YouTube, and get a look at the whole show for yourself. As others have said it is loud. If your children love bugs, can those soft earplugs be a possible option? Just a thought, We do love The show but know that it can be scary for little ones. Have a great trip.

YouTube- "Animal Kingdom it's tough to be a bug"

once kids get older, this is a great show but certainly can be scary for little ones.

We've done it with kids ages 2, 3, 4 and 5 and they've never been scared. I always play along about how funny things are to them and let them know what to expect when I can. But given you know your child has issues with sudden loud noises or darkness it may not be a good idea.

One thing to remember about this is the showmanship. Yes, I have seen crying children, but like the old "Alien Encounter", much of the screaming and crying is in the sound track. It is loud, there are bugs, but my kids all watched "A Bug's Life" so they knew the characters going in, and got the jokes.

we didn't even make it that far - DD (then age 7) lost in early in the show and we were the first ones out of there. She is now 15 and still refuses to give it another chance. Now that I know spiders drop down from the ceiling I don't even want to try again - yikes! We still count that as one of our 2 major mistakes from our 1st trip.

My DS (now 18) was very sensitive to noise, and all around sensitive in general- He didn't freak out as a toddler, but I do remembering taking him out when he was about 3- by 6 he was fine with it.

My then 7 year old son was terrified of the spiders that came down. We promptly left I've never seen the whole show. My friend recommended it. I felt terrible that he was so scared.

Don't skip it, it's hysterical! If there's a meltdown just leave, but I would give it a chance. I think the interest in bugs might distract from the sound.

Huh... we did this show a few weeks ago for the first time. I must have missed some of the sensory things like the "wasp sting" and "stink Bug". Maybe due to having on warm coats and having a bad cold?? Will have to try it again during warmer weather!
The theater was full of youngsters, did not see any strong reactions or exiting families. The show was cute.
