:sad2: Doesn't anyone else think it is totally unfair that all the larger expensive resorts have Easter egg hunts and fun activities for the children and will not let anyone but people staying at their resort join in? We are staying at the All Star Music, and when I called them they said they were not doing anything at all for Easter. Yet, my daughter will not be able to join in with any of the activities now because of this. This really surprises me that Disney would allow children to be singled out and be left out of any fun. I plan on making a basket for her, and I guess maybe I will have to hide a few plastic eggs in our room so she doesn't miss out completely. I wrote an email to customer service and I am waiting for a reply.

I understand your concern, but you do get what tyou pay for. I know that when I go on business trips I get a lot of little extras at certain hotels than I do when I opt to pay less. Just go and enjoy the parks because that what we all go to WDW for anyways.

I agree with Jovidan, I think you get what you pay for. While it is unfortunate that they don't do anything for the kids, I am sure you could understand why they don't allow you to participate in the activities at other resorts, for the same reason it is unfair to go and use the pool at the BC when you are staying at the All Stars. The people at that resort pay the extra money for the extra ammenities and it would be unfair to them to have the pool crowded with people who didn't pay to stay at the resort.
Maybe you could plan something with your husband, either an egg hunt in the room, or depending on where you room is, even outside. Do they offer anything special in the parks? We have never been there over Easter, but I am sure you will have fun. :flower:

I'm not sure I understand the part of children being singled out. That just sounds too evil! :). The only way the child would know about this is if the parent tells them, right? Look at it from the kids point of view.. if they aren't told they are missing out on something, they won't feel like they are. They would be happy just to be at Disney, I would think. Do the basket & egg thing if it's important for you to have her experience something, but I'll bet she won't feel like she missed out on something at another resort.

I'm confused. Are you saying that's unfair that some of the amenities at the deluxe hotels are limited to guests that are paying to stay there? Sorry but I think that's completely fair.

Are you saying it's unfair that Disney isn't offering similar programs in the value resorts? You may have a point but the value resorts generally exclude extras in favor of lower room prices. Disney should have at least considered offering children's activities for an extra charge. They could have picked a location where, for a charge, people staying in value resorts and even offsite could participate.

I dont think it is unfair in the least, and I respectfully disagree that children will be "left out of any fun." This is disney world. Go ride a few rides while the rest of the deluxe crowd is doing an easter egg hunt. Sounds like a deal for you to get a jump on the crowd. Ask your kids if they would rather do an easter egg hunt or go to the MK. I have a hunch what the answer will be.

I dont want to start any debate, I am just of the mind also that you get what you pay for, but to the OP
We were there last easter, our 3 ds are teens, but we did notice that in epcot they have an alice in wonderland tea party thing in england that you sign up for that is offered many times throughout the day. I thought it was free, I really cant be sure of that. I also thought I read somewhere that this year they are doing something also with goofy at epcot. You might want to check into this. I dont know if it is a free activity or if there is a charge. This might be a good alternative for your family. Good luck. Actually last year the resort that had the most easter fun listed was definetely the fort wilderness campground. I think I read they had stuff scheduled all week end. They sure must have had a good time over there.

I checked into it, and only the resorts are doing Easter activities. As it has been posted many times I guess they even stopped the Easter parade. Yes, I suppose we will have to hide eggs on our own like I said earlier. Of course there is no way I will let this ruin our fun. I still think though in spite of the fact that we are paying less we are still paying quite a bit of money. It is more at peak times don't forget. of course I more than understand and agree that if you pay extra other guests should not be able to use your pool or whatever extra comes with the package. But just because you can't afford to pay those higher prices shouldn't mean your child is totally left out. There is no reason why All Stars can't do a little something. If nothing else have a bunny and let him hand an egg with a couple pieces of candy to each child.

Nope, I see nothing unfair about it all. If I'm staying at a deluxe resort (which I'm not), then I would expect to have extras that aren't available at mods and values.

To me, this is like saying it's unfair that the value resorts don't have pool slides, so why can't my kids use the slides at the mods or deluxes? Why should my kids be left out of all the fun simply because I can't afford to stay at a deluxe?

Why don't you send Disney a letter or email and suggest it? You might say you'd be willing to pay a nominal fee. Disney doesn't normally do extras in the values but if enough guests are interested they might be willing to do it.

Probably too late for this year but posting on internet boards isn't the best way to bring suggestion to Disney's attention.

I wouldn't word it as saying it's unfair, more like it's unfortunate or even short sighted.

Does everyone in the world want something for nothing. You can't afford to stay in deluxes so your kids don't get to do an easter egg hunt. You can't expect to pay $75.00 and get the same perks you would get for $375.00. Kids gotta learn sometimes that you don't always get what you want, and some people are gonna have more than them.

It's hard to understand how your daughter will feel left out. It's not as if you will be at the other resort, with your daughter just watching the Easter egg hunt but not being allowed to participate. If you don't tell your daughter that other resorts have egg hunts, she will never know. She won't feel "singled out" because no one at your resort will be having an egg hunt. Bring some plaastic eggs and hide them in your room or around the grounds near your room. It can still be great fun.

I think you're looking at it from the wrong perspective. I totally understand how it feels to be left out. When all the AP and FLA discounts came out, I was SOOOOO jealous. So I know how you feel. But look at it this way - If I was staying at the All Stars the week after Easter and I found out your kids got a free Easter Egg hunt and free candy just because you were there on Easter, how do you think I would feel? I'd say, I paid the same money as them - why should they get something extra?

I'm not trying to give you a life-lesson lecture here, but since I've been on these boards, I've learned this very quickly: If I focus on what other people are doing and what other people are paying and what other people are getting for that price, I'm always going to feel slighted, because there will always be somebody who's getting more than me. It's much healthier for me to focus on my trip and just enjoy that at face value, without any comparisons.

Have fun!

As far as I know, the Poly has nothing planned for Its guest either, and I'm pretty sure I'm paying deluxe rates to stay there.

Wow. Sorry I posted this. Lets drop it. Especially ncgollfer, don't get so angry. For the record my friend I am paying a lot more than $75. Like I said before and then I am moving on. We WILL HAVE AN EGG HUNT IN OUR ROOM. No harm done. No doubt we will have a great time. Have to go now to leave for work, so please drop it and lets get on with our lifes.

Is it also unfair that your room is smaller at ASMo than at a Deluxe? Is it also unfair that your resort is further from Magic Kingdom thus taking longer to get there? Is it also unfair that the monorail doesn't come to the values?
I just don't understand how someone can pay $99 or less a night and get mad about not having the same perks as someone who pays at the very least twice that much.

We like to do character meals, a lot of character meals. Is it fair that some other kids are missing out because their parents didn't pay for them to have a character meal? I sure don't think so.

I'm not trying to be rude, I just don't get it. Like everyone else said, you get what you pay for.

If you are staying at ASMo & you are paying "a lot" more than $75 a night, you're getting ripped off. Isn't the full price (without discounts) rate $99 a night?

If you go to the "Events" link on the Trip Planning Forums page, it appears that there may be quite a bit going on at the Poly. I'm not sure the Easter activities has that much to do with the deluxe versus value thing. We're going to be at AKL and it appears that there will be nothing there this year. However, I was told that many of the resorts don't have anything because there isn't an appropriate site on the resort where you could do something like a candy scramble for all resort guests.

To address the OP's complaint, it appears from the information on the Events link that they will be having a candy scramble and character meet and greet for ALL WDW resort guests at the Boardwalk. We'll probably try to participate in that this weekend.

Happy Easter everyone (and play nice!).

OP asked to drop this. Her chose of the topic header is unfortunate. I think it's a fair discussing if value resorts or even the theme parks should do something for Easter. Doesn't have to be free.

If you're going to BLAST someone get your facts right. Rack rate for the Allstars during the peak season is $109 for a standard room and $121 for a preferred building. A preferred room is 61% higher than your $75 figure. I'd say that's a lot more.

Some people would consider that rate a rip off but that's a separate discussion. I'd probably look offsite before I'd pay $121 for a value resort.

I haven't read through the whole thread. Sorry, but I think it is totally fair. I have stayed at all three levels of accomodations and I always thought I got what I paid for.

And I think safety is another reason. Can you imagine how many children would be there if they let in all of the resorts?? Yikes! There would be so many kids!

Make Easter REALLY special and go to one of the great churches that Orlando has. :sunny:

edited to add: Ok, now I've read the whole thread and I saw where the Op said to drop it........so ...........sorry...... I don't think you should be blasted, I know you are dissappointed. But maybe there is something at the Boardwalk like somebody said. That would be nice too. Hope it works out for you. :)
