As we will be cruising in January and I am too busy to hit the tanning beds I am wondering about the Total glow sunless tanning as posted in http://www.wdwig.com/cruise/Dcruise.shtml as a spa option. I have not seen it discussed anywhere else. Has anyone done it? Is it even there? Lord knows I could use SOME color!

I had one of the tanning things done at a spa(not on the cruise line) so I am assuming they are similar. The one I had done is one from a tube that they rub in. There are also the spray on ones but I bet this is the ones they rub in. You can get this from a store and just do it yourself. The one I had done, I was not warned that I couldn't go out into the sun, sweat or wear tight clothing(even a bra) for several hours or it came off. Definately puts a damper on your beach vacation! I would get something from the store and do it beforehand. Hope this helps, not sure of their exact treament on the cruise ship but I bet it is similar.

I use the baindesolei foam kind from wal-mart...works great! I've also used neutrogena. Make sure you exfoliate first.

I've used the Lancome self tanner and it works great on my lily white skin. :)

I've used Neutrogena...great stuff

It's a good thing you don't have time to go to a tanning bed....those things are devastating to your skin....tanning, both in a bed and in the sun, at least causes premature aging of the skin....at most, melanoma, one of the worst types of cancer.....

there are so many excellent cosmetic tanning cremes, lotions....even mystic Tan booths that spray the stuff on....

like the mystic tan htey have here at home you walk in ot a booth and they spray you, it looks great on the ones I have seen. I use the tanning beds to build up a base coat so I don't get burned after a day in the water.

My SIL had her son get the base coat before he went to Hawaii this summer.

Is that really a good idea? I'm sure a slow tan is better than a quick burn, but NO tan and lots of sunscreen would be best, right?

No matter if you have an applied from a spray/tube or natural tan, suncreen is still a must. No matter what you WILL burn! The sun there is a lot stronger than we're used to up here in the states.

You really don't want to be part of the lobster brigade on disembarkation day. And yes, on every cruise we've been on there have been a good number who had this silly notion that they wouldn't get burnt.

Never mind what tanning does to your skin. My mom who's in her 50's now looks like 65+ as she was a sun worshipper when she was younger, and her skin is now like rumpled leather. I'm just thankful it didn't bring skin cancer.

So whatever you do, be careful! It's better to be a bit overprotective.
