Have been on TOT, awesome ride! I don't mind the elevator plummeting, even though I am glad when it's overwith LOL. Last time I went to DL I did not have the courage for the Maliboomer. I know I will have to ride it when we go in December so my husband won't whine. Anyway how scary is it and how does it compare to TOT?

It's not really "scary", if you just wait in line once while it goes, you'll see exactly what's going to happen, not really unpredictable like TOT. I will say though that I can ride TOT with absolutely no problems, but for some reason the really rapid shot upward from Maliboomer made both me and my sister, who is 12 years younger, sick, so I know it wasn't just me being "old" lol. We vowed never again for Maliboomer, and then went on TOT later that day (AFTER lunch) and were perfectly fine.

I love TOT, but NOT a big fan of the Maliboomer, it scared me to death and I can go on anything. I think having the plastic shield in front of my face didn't help either. :crazy2:

I would go on it again only if someone else REALLY wanted me to go with them.

I personally love the TOT it is my favorite ride...I dont really care for the Maliboomer. I think it is the storyline and ambiance that goes with the TOT that makes it so exciting. The Maliboomer just doesnt have that. However the veiw at night makes it a little more exciting. That is just my opinion though...I couldnt even drag my hubby on if I tried.

I have never been on Maliboomer but my 9 yr old DD thought it was ok. TOT is better in her opinion. I have been on similar rides at other parks and am really just not that interested in going on.

The bouncing up and down that the Maliboomer does is what bothers me - unlike Tower of Terror, which is assisted free fall (e.g. falling faster than gravity), Maliboomer is more speed of gravity down. And then when it goes back up and then down, and up and down again that makes my stomach start doing somersaults! :-)

I completely agree! I went on it last weekend, for about the 3rd or 4th time, just to appease my DD and it's the only ride where I feel like I could actually die!! Not doing it again!!!
:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

Exactly. With TOT, you are being *pulled* down, you're not *falling*. And that makes all the difference to me. I used to go on the falling down thing at Great America, and I will not do it again, won't touch Maliboomer at all. But I don't mind being pulled down, so I like TOT.

I used to love the one at Great America, but the kiddie one at Santa Cruz made my stomach flip this last Easter. I'm staying away from Mailboomer.

Well, my main reason for not going on the Maliboomer in the past has been that I've been on many similar rides, and they are all the same. My bf, however, felt that we needed to ride it. 4 times. For me the scariest part was the first drop because I lifted from my seat and pushed up in the restraint. It scared me pretty badly the first time! From then on, I just held on and pushed myself down so that I wouldn't float up again. After the first drop, the little up and down drops don't bother me at all. I do think it's scarier than ToT because it feels more open to me. I dont know, it's weird!

I much prefer ToT for a few reasons. The line is themed. It is inside. The ride is a story. It is overall a much better disney experience, and if I wanted to go on a Maliboomer-type ride I would go to a roller coaster park. To me, it just lacks the magic that makes Disneyland special. :wizard:

Geez I think I am more afraid now after reading the feedback. I know it is overwith quick and I am not going to die :rotfl:

I rode the Maliboomer for the first & last time on our last trip. I found it to be totally boring & was really glad that we just walked on. If we had had to wait in line for THAT......I would not have been a very happy camper! lol  Not that it was any suprize to me as I watched it many times before going on it. It was one of those things....I like to try everything once. I totally agree with the PP that it lacks any of the magic that makes Disney special. On the other hand, I absolutely LOVE TOT!!! It is one of my fav rides! :lovestruc

I was always scared of riding Maliboomer bc of the launch. Just looking @ it from below & hearing it shoot up made me terrified. But I actually went on it w/ my bro & his gf one day bc I wanted to @ least ride it once in my life. I was suprised that the launch actually wasn't that bad. The worst part was just not knowing when it was going to launch.
ToT does have a better ambiance & theme while the Maliboomer is just a tall ride on the pier. I do have to say that the worst part on ToT for me is when you go up again after the drops & how it feels like it is constantly pushing against gravity bc I always have to unpop my ears & it's really annoying.
You do feel more confined w/in the space in ToT, while you are more open & free in Maliboomer.
I can't comment about the Maliboomer making me sick bc it never happened to me. I was fine w/ the "bouncing" part, it's what Tiggers like best! :goodvibes

My mom will not go on Maliboomer, but she has been on ToT and thinks it's alright. My dad loves Maliboomer, but he doesn't like ToT. I think it's just the fact that it's in an "elevator"

As for me, I really like both. But Maliboomer feels a lot better at the top! It also has a better view at the top as well :)

I love the Maliboomer! I love TOT too. But the Maliboomer has a great launch, airtime at the top, and a fantastic view. It's best to hold your arms and legs straight out before the launch and keep them there...you have to resist the urge to grab the handles on the safety restraint. It's the greatest weightless experience ever at the top that way.

We had this exact topic in the lunch room today at work. I said TOT was scarier to me because you never know when it's going to go up or down. I love it though. I've only been on Maliboomer once because no one will go on with me.

I think TOT is WAY WAY scarier than the Maliboomer. The Maliboomer is really fun and a really quick ride. I love it the view!

I don't know what makes TOT scarier. The theming or because the drops are unknown. Or maybe because it seems higher up. I have no idea, but I still get nervous everytime I go on it.
