Here are a few suggestions for our upcoming Toronto in DIS dinner:
The Keg - York Street (Marilyn suggested the Keg Mansion but it would be awkward for most people to get to-- this one is about a five minute walk directly west from their hotel, and probably a 10 minute walk from Union Station)

For the visitors, this is a traditional American steakhouse but not as pricey or fancy as you'll find some of the other chains to be. Good chicken and seafood options too I understand. Reasonably priced, for a steakhouse.
La Maquette is a bit east of King and Church, so a quick (8 min?) walk from Charlotte (and DH's) hotel, and still manageable from Union Station. Here's a sample menu; the $30 prix fix dinner would be a decent deal I think: http://www.dine.to/restaurants/lamaquette/menu_dinner.php
I had a great lunch with a friend there recently; we enjoyed the quiet 'elegant' atmosphere as well as the basic but flavourful French bistro food
Hot House Cafe immediately south of La Maquette, in that it's at Church and Front (one major block south). Hence, it's even closer to Union Station.
Hot House is a favorite around my household -- if anyone is interested in doing a brunch on Sunday instead, they do a great (but noisy) jazz brunch. Church and Front, so an easy cab ride and decent walk from Charlotte (and DH)'s hotel, parking near by and walking distance to/from Union Station

Of the three above, I'd heartily recommend the Hot House Cafe -- reasonable pricing, varied menu, generally attentive and knowledgable staff, and decent transportation options for all.
Does anyone have any other places they'd like 'the group' to consider? We should probably try to pick a place in the next few days so that we can have firm plans with Charlotte and Dh before they leave home (I'm not sure if thy'll have internet access here or not.)
Charlotte, if you have nice weather while you're here and you like Greek food, I'd also recommend taking the Bloor/Danforth subway east to "Greektown" -- get off near Pape and look for a patio which seems inviting. (They all look great to me! Astoria is popular but a bit upscale for a patio place in my opinion; we've always enjoyed Mr. Greek -- just a short walk east of the Pape Station -- I think Astoria is near the stop before you get to Pape, if you're travelling east).
Hope that helps! I'm happy to take a tally of numbers and call for a reservation once we've decided where and when (We discussed Aug 27 with no objections, so it's just the time to meet I guess...
