Exciting Friday the13th.While driving in today to the Sebastian museum the rain was the hardest I have seen in awhile.I hear a tornado watch on the radio for our area. Get indoors and one of the girls in the office said we have a tornado warning.I said you sure it isn't a watch? It started to blow pretty hard and all of a sudden the rain stops and thats it.I leave to go to the DVC annual meeting a little later which was being held in the SeaGrape Room. There were a number of Emergency vehicles on US1.Still really didn't think anything happened.Doors were to open at 1:30 meeting at 2PM.It was delayed for 20 mins due to some of the DVC boardmember's being stuck on SR 510 due to a tornado touching down. (Sr 510 is the road over Orchid Island straight across US1 connecting to SR512 to I95).

Meeting only lasted about 20 min.Normal board stuff. Most info has already been mentioned from other resort meetings. The chairman had a great sense of humor. Wizzed through theboring stuff. Nothing much new and exciting going on at VB in 2003.Dues increased 4.9%.Most of that from health benifit increases for cast members.Property insurance only added a small amount.Property tax increase is adding a whopping .006%/ pt. increase in dues. Villa doors being repainted and roof air conditioning inlets being replaced. That was about it.Nothing new that hasn't been already reported about Saratoga Springs. They said they are still deciding what they are going to do with all the buildings at DI. One member asked about the rumor of an iceskating rink. The chairman of the board said "wait to you see what would happen to your dues there if that is the case".Everyone laughed. He said that is definitely out of the question.Meeting was adjorned.will report on further VB info later.:)

Thanx for the news & report, Mike. I am glad nobody (that we know of) was hurt.
I'm happy I missed it, as I was down in Florida most of last week (PBI, MCO, FLL).

I'm glad that no one was hurt.

I'm also wondering how the ice skating rink rumor never made it on the board?:p :p :p

Thanks for the update Madcoco. I'm glad the tornado missed you (and our "home").

Your welcome and thanks.:)Sorry had to run before finishing last night. There was quite a bit of damage confined to a very small area and from what I saw on the way out it sure did look like a tornado the way things were twisted and the debris was spun around. Here is another link to the story. Only 1 person injured thank goodness:

Back to VB news. Someone mentioned in an earlier post about beach renourishment. They confirmed they are renourishing the dune the entire length of the property and not just a section as in the past.will commence the 1st week of Jan and to be finished before turtle nesting season in May. Repainting of the area under the entry roof is finished and corridor carpeting and furniture replacement is complete. As far as the ice skating rink rumor at SSR,has anyone else ever heard this? The fellow member who asked the question was quite serious about it.

madcoco, perhaps I missed something, but what corridor carpeting and furniture was replaced?

Thanx......

Maistre Gracey: Glad you missed the weather.

SorryI take it for granted and have never really noticed:o I guess they mean in the main building from Shutter's up to where the DVC offices used to be and around the Inn Room floors. They have been doing a lot of foilage trimming around the units. Posted a pic earlier with the ocean view you now have from the outside room at Shutters. Saw two large landscaping trucks full of palm leaves, brush etc. leaving the grounds again yesterday.

Any frequent visitors to the GreenCabinRoom may remember CM Jantina behind the bar.She usually works the day shift. Her last day is Thursday.:(

Madcoco,

Thanks for the VB update. I'm sure the beach will definitely need a little nourishment now ;) Sorry to hear about Jantina...she mentioned nothing about leaving when we were there during Thanksgiving...she will be missed ! I agree they have REALLY whacked the foliage back...some to the point of bareness. It does, however, make for better ocean viewing. :D

By the way, forgot to mention...glad you didn't actually meet up with the tornado :D
