Tornado alley vs Earthquake lane

Kelleigh1... we live in a neighborhood where the majority of people work at .. Scott AFB!! or have retired from the Air Force.... pm me if your sis wants info on O'Fallon.

momsgoofy... girl.. I got my marriage license in Murphysburo!! :)

In Ca.. the house we had built in '99 had all the benefits of earthquake readiness and in Hollister we shook everyday... no kidding. You don't really notice the quaking until it registers at least a 3.5/4.0.
I don't think the housing here in Illinois will withstand a moderate quake. We do have earthquake insurance tho... along with mine subsidence... :rolleyes1

I must say I am impressed with the weathermen down here in St. Louis. They are right on top of any type of storm. The computer programs that predict when the storm will hit your location are amazingly accurate.

I grew up on a farm 50 miles south of Chicago. I remember watching a funnel cloud race across the corn field as my father (who was on a tractor in the field) ran for the ditch ...that image is etched in my brain forever!
and My mother was yelling get in the basement.. We had alot of damage but it left our farmhouse untouched
Today as I drove by the homes that received major damage from Sunday's tornado I was amazed by how quickly recovery was in progress. There is no hoopla, no wringing of hands.... just people taking care of one another and themselves. Way cool!
